Christmas snow in E. Tenn.:xmastree::snowman::snowman2: Was a nice storm. A sudden snow event! Just north of Sam's Gap, the storm and the cold air actually approached from the south over the gap. At 5:00pm it was 51F degrees and raining. A fierce wind blew up, swirling the leefless trees behind the house. At 5:30pm it was 24F and snowing! Within 30 min, Rain mixed up with sleet, then straight sleet pelting the metal roof, and then silence as it quickly turned to snow. A white out here for a few hours at least. Like a giant snow machine just cranked up! A snow bomb went off. It even stuck to the sides of tree branches. :D. The end result was quite the picturesque scene.:) unfortunately not to last.

We had a wonderful time.
But my back decided to start acting up (it happens), and right after that we got 46cm in about 30 hours.
I have informed the household that the terrace door is now a wall and should not be opened under any circumstances.

Have managed to get the snow away from the driveway but it keeps coming back.
Weather is mild.

Cheap horrible heat pump installed by previous owner broke a couple weeks before Christmas, started blasting in freezing air so the house temp dropped to 10c overnight, got a good price on a new PROPER unit and the technician will be here on the 5th.

Strongly considering getting a walk behind tractor to deal with the snow and other things. Tired and slightly incapacitated.

Edit:
Oh, and we've been without internet for a few days as well as close to 24 hours straight without power, it still fluctuates a bit so not stable yet. The trees where still soft since the weather has been so mild, so lots of tall trees have been bent and torn down or snapped causing some issues here and there. We're well prepared and have everything we need so it's been a very nice experience for the kids.
Another plus is that the youngest has started voluntarily shovelling snow to help out, not much of a help but very nice that she makes a bit of an effort.

Thanks.
But it would be much better if it got colder and more stable no slush better roads +++, staying around 0c equals snow, hoping for a colder winter than last year but it's looking grim.

Been checking out a 14hp walk behind tractor with a 1m wide snowblower attachment and an adjustable snow plow, a small log trailer good for 750kg and some small plows to help plant stuff. Just got a price on that bundle with quick release attachments for everything, about 6k$...
