Since my pub days are few and far between these days and the fact that I don't really have to go to work anymore, Uncle Cal has tried to keep busy at other things.
He was gifted an 8 foot, soft hull, rubber dinghy. I have used it as poor mans air conditioning but I decided to do something more.
Yes, what you see is a propeller shaft that you hook to your cordless drill. Hopefully this will make the oars obsolete. I was especially thinking of ZM when I got this, as he seems to be right up there in the wacky, oddball, old guy things. It was tested in that large recycle container you see and scared the chocolate out of me with the thrust. Especially with the impact drill. I think I said: Oh my Jumping Jimminy as it flew out of the container and nailed my neighbours car.

BTW, I have the two drills and also just bought a couple bigass 8Ah batteries to go with the 1.5's that came with the drill set.
Tomorrow morning this all gets put to the test. The buddy who gave me the rubber raft will be the first mate.
Captain Cal rides the briny again. I am hoping this is not the last time you hear from me.

Oh, and while I was waiting an entire month for the longtail prop shaft thingy to arrive, I went and got one of these. It's pretty cool too. In hindsight I really ought to have taken a change of underwear for the first time I opened it up.

Hello Cal,
you could attach that soft hull rubber dinghy behind the offshore race boat and invite some 'possible victims' to have
fun in that rubber dinghy jumping over the waves...
I have beautiful pics in my brain.
Enjoy your weekend!

Thank you Dirk.
I will return with tales of woe from today's sea trials with the inflatable.
I have some wounds to lick before that.
In the meantime, here is where it all happened. This is the Nicomekl river. It is home to the largest collection of Pacific Oyster beds on the planet.
For as far as the eye can see, in any direction, there they are.
Alas, not a one is for consumption due to the conflict with humanity and our careless control of agricultural substances.
