Duncan Hamilton, a Scottish sports car racing driver, brought a single seat Bugatti into his parents drawing room (through double doors from the garden. He worked on the car by fitting twin wheels on the rear (for hill climb racing). He then drove the car out again, but forgot that it was now wider and demolished the door frame!
He eventually was sacked by Jaguar for jumping back in the car at the final driver change and winning the 24 hour race.
