Turns out I am familiar with SA-10. Felt it was embarrassingly bad when playing it for out of town visitors at a friend's house on his otherwise excellent system. Anyway I can assure you, IME, much better is possible. Please feel free to PM if interested to discuss diy solutions.
Of course a simple two condenser mic setup may give a better stereo recording than something mixed down from several mics.

Better is always possible, I know. "Embarrassingly bad" - no, I don't think so.
But of course I don't want to convince you, your opinion is an opinion, just like mine.

Well, I truly felt embarrassed for my friend. Only his vinyl sounded great, soooo much better than the dac. (I have the service manual and schematics for SA-10 too. The actual D/A implementation is a simple discrete DSD FIRDAC. No that well designed compared to what it might have been. The output stage that follows is discrete, much of it discrete opamps. That could be better too.)
Anyway, now I can get clearly better imaging and deeper soundstage than from vinyl, including better than from DS Audio optical systems.
I will leave off here.

I've been playing with the idea of putting a couple of small speakers in the back of my living room and office, mostly for creating an ambience.
I got a Schiit Syn, Outlaw Wireless OAW4 and I got amps and speakers. I'm not quite sure about the Syn in the main system....
Anyone tried to synthesize rear ambience channels in their two channel system?

The drivers in my Maggies are bigger than the weird drivers in your speakers.
I take it YOU haven't tried it.
I got a Marantz quad receiver with the SQA/CD4 decoders and wired remote. Eons ago I had it set up in our small bedroom with four speakers, I'd set it up into Vari-Matrix Dimension mode, drink bourbon Manhattans and play with the remote. It was quite fun.

I had SMG eons ago ..... for short time of 7-8 months
Listened Apogees (almost ZM tall, dunno model, don't care) at AR2's, for 5 or 6 days, after BAF 2019
I like all speakers, but prefer easy ones

I took the A Shade of Blue album down from Qobuz in 24/192 and are listening now. The recording is not an instant love, though some instruments are nicely captured, the double bass for one. Drums also. The piano is near to tire my ears though in hard strokes. I can place the different drums in the stage, snare slightly to the right, bang centered etc. Double bass and piano slightly to the left to me. But as a whole, it doesn’t embrace me. Yet anyway, we’ll see.
Yes we are.Big Cal is my Buddie!!
Your buddy is going to have his breakfast and bundle up for a chilly morning boat ride up the mighty Fraser river.
He will be thinking of you and the other pubsters as the bugs smash into his teeth.
Something about a boat ride putting a big smile on your buddy's face.

No need for translation... you JUST KNOW what's coming next. Beep! Beep!....
Very, very seldom they would have a subtitle ( except "genius" is easy to understand in Spanish... Definitely one of the best cartoons...
🙄 🙄 😉
Yes, I think Wily E Coyote matches ZM... just watch out for the train coming out of the tunnel....

I have a like new old stock of those! Actually works pretty well on bedroom turn table. Mounted on old Infinity Black Widow. Very 70s.Funny... yesterday I just found an OM-30 cartridge in a box.
I used it some 15 years ago or so, just for some weeks... funny things happen... 😀
It is.Yea. I also have a bunch of different head shells for reasons that I forgot (hoarding?) but now I can make use of them to compare how total weight affects sound. A dude on YouTube told me that the VTA angle affects highs and lows depending on which way it leans, can’t remember which was which now. Don’t know if that’s true tho
