Well, it is quite a problem for sure.
If all of the buttons out, I think you could get traces on screen.

I have not tested with all the buttons out. I could get some vague traces on the screen when two buttons was pressed in and they all was stuck. I dont remember how they looked like now tho. I remember I couldnt control it like I wanted when testing, obvously. Here is two pics on how it looked like before I just now ripped the buttons out, without any signal in. First with no button pushed, then with any pushed in (bright dot in the corner).

As I do not have electrical qualifications, me mostly driven by intuition.
So I don't think it is the worst problem.
Of course maybe there isn't any other problem, just handling.
I was sucks me many times myself, (No, not so long.) just because setting knobs and pots were wrong position.

Need to decide weather I shall put the broken button array back before I can do those tests. Now hood is of and stuff are loose. Takes a while to put it back. Opening the button array box does not seem easy. It involved at least some desoldering of pins and stuff sticking out. Eh, now we're cluttering this pub thread down. Ill open another when I have time.
Never mind, tolerate us.
I would not put back this bad switch.
I have found a pic, there is Beam finder. 🙂
But it is a 7704A.
Can you shoot a bigger pic about the whole face of scope?
Including plugins.

Also, there are separate knobs for readout and trace intensity.
Situation is more promising in the first screen picture.

I did that now when taking buttons out. Tho I dont have any support pins so its more complicated to have it stay up for me.

Maybe Jacco has some tips and tricks up the sleeve
There are some mesh. 🙂
Some wise advice, then I must go.
Check all of the power supply levels, even power supply ripples, according to SM.
Document everything with photos.
See you later!
