Kar 1000.2T, I took a quick look inside is all. I always wanted to try a T. Should try to fire it up as it may not be working. I keep looking at the little Blaupunkts too but they go too high for me.

Another couple weeks and I should be done with my TDA2500 based high current "FrankenPath™". I had to order a new IC..... $180.😱

Ouch! I was told if a tripath chip is fried you might be in trouble.

I see an old thread about it. Hmm, I better look at it and see what I have. Why does the tripath sheet say class AB audiophile quality yet I have seen some say they are not? Not to go off topic but is there info on that someplace?

It is a class-d amplifier; they just mean it has the "audio fidelity of Class-AB".

I think your amp will have a TA0102A or possibly TA0103A. Either way it will be a ***** to find a replacement if it is bad.

Right; a T is a D modified to play full range right? I just read something about amps and the guy said all class D and T/etc are 'dirty' and cheap. Just wondering if you can hear a difference full range or is the guy dumping on anything priced under a fortune like some of them do.

If it uses the same one as the Arc 1500dr which I'm pretty sure it does then it's a TA0102A.

Not exactly, "Class-T" was/is just a marketing term. It is just a class-d amp with special signal processing. Any properly designed class-d amp can play full-range; it has nothing to do with class-t. Most class-d car amps do not play full range because they are not designed to do so.

The person who made the comments about class-d amps being dirty and cheap obviously knows nothing about this class of amp.

If you want an example of a Tripath based car amp that is neither dirty nor cheap, check out the Zapco C2K 9.0XD.

Oh, and to keep on topic, I submit the above amp as "good".😉

2x20 watts RMS and a 5 amp fuse, it is a TINY amp. That whole listing is a load of lies trying to get some clueless collector to pay a lot.

"ITS A BEAST!!!RATED AT 50X2 BUT OFCOURSE YOU KNOW IT CAN DO WAY MORE THAN THAT.(CHEATER AMP)"

Oh yeah, the ad is a load of crap, but I'd take a LP for 32 bucks. I'm not about to bid, though. I prefer to have old amps given to me ...(buddy: I got no use for it anymore, and I think its ****ed... me: I'll take it off your hands!)

Gives me something to laugh about anyway. Another: 200223449562

I could never get a LP to work on highs, they didn't sound good IMO. I am assuming it will go higher than 32, who knows. Even on tweeters I would not dare run that small of an amp, er, the 5 ampere "beast." lol.

The good, RF punch 40 dsm, very under rated excellent reliability excellent sound quality.
Alpine 3544 2ch and the 3554 4ch excellent japanese amps. PPI art series. Orion HCCA (red ones).

The bad, anything from china or korea regardless of brand.

The ugly, Sony Xplod!!!!

I have a pair of very ugly amps from 1986. Alphasonik PMA-2075 and MA-2050. Identical other than size. Have their specs listed right on top alongside the model number. Kinda corny looking. Also, they have the hideous looking snap-in wiring connector.

Surprisingly, both were "assembled" in Korea. Anyone know of any "US" amp companies that were having their amps built in Asia any earlier than this?

As I mentioned that my all time fav amp was a Sony (I have owned many amps and would buy this one again if I could find it reasonable).

Pull the cover off that sony and if it looks like this I will agree that its not ugly.
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

LOL

Is it the entire XES line that's good like that? All the other sony amp's i've seen were junk.

The entire ES line was intended to be their competition line. The XES was their attempt at super high end. Unfortunately, they didn't advertise it very well & so not many were purchased or made. It makes me sad because the shop I worked at was able to get the ES line at a heavy discount, but I had to quit before I had a chance to get anything.
