Slowly but steady:
PSU: Done
Output stage: Done
Input stage: Done
Volume control: Done
Software: Done
Now I need to mill the front panel and put the controller inside.

Hello All,
Some more news, shipping is drawing near.
We had some consistency issues with the new anodizer but that has been solved after reanodizing.
Now all items are being reanodized and the finish is consistent across the whole batch.
So i expect to contact all subscribers soon for shipping as soon as we have the panels in the shop for assembly.
The cases will all be sent fully assembled.
Some pictures of the process.

If anyone is interested in building this great preamp and missed the first round of orders, send me a PM. It's becoming increasingly apparent that I won't have the time to build this preamp, and I'd be willing to pass along my case, boards and FETs to another builder.
Hi Horio,
Very sorry to hear that.
For myself i would not loose hope because we are, after many trials and tribulations, it's a one man machine shop, ready to start shipping in next few days.
The machinist, not myself, has endured many personal issues but i have kept the project going, so normalcy is here and things are moving at acceptable pace now.
It is extreemly dificult to get a machine shop in Europe that will do this kind of job , with this level of quality for an acceptable price, anywhere.
But we are ready and i will not let any GB member down.
Here are some pictures taken this week of the anodized panels being assembled.
By default, cases will be delivered fully assembled.
Assemble and test your boards because before you finish that you will have the cases to put them in.

One of the Beta testers has just published some distortion measurements :

With 500ohm (!!) load, H2 is -116dB, H3 -109dB. 🙂

Hello Patrick,
Is it possible to drive this gain stage with a signal source that has ~6k output impedance?

The input attenuator has a Zin between 20k and 40k balanced, and is not constant.
Your own decision whether to want to drive this with a 6k Zout source.
Possible ? In theory yes.

Hello Patrick,
I have a modular preamp that uses the muses 72320 to control the volume. This one has 6k output resistance and I wanted to know if it’s worth including a buffer between the muses chip and the f5xp module.

The F5X Preamp already has volume control.
I do not understand why you would need another preamp with volume control upfront.

Because I don’t have the f5x preamp but the ugs muse preamp for which I would like to design a pcb with the f5x pre gain stage.
The design is tempting because of low output impedance which saves me the need to add a buffer on the output and also the possibility to ditch the servo.
Beside that I want to hear this gain stage too.
