fwiw in a few days I'll try Beta10cx in GregB's Karlsonator12 using Eminence's xover values and the ASD1001 from a Silver Iris speaker - suggested pad for a reflex box is 3R/20R - might be mellow in a K. This cabinet worked really well for Eminence's 12LTA and the old stamped frame Nirvana Super10.

I hope you like it! I have tried several different xo in nanoDIGI, and I like the values from eminence the best (though now I can't remember what they are)
its sat up in a cold room with woofer about 4 feet up from floor - at that perspective, it lacks the "presence" of say a good/bright fullrange. I think Beta10cx is somewhat more mellow than some other Eminence CX such as their cast frame 12" models with 80 and 120 ounce magnet. I'll be able to make more sense of it when temperatures rise as it costs a lot to heat with electricity, and when its better placed. EM's values are 2mH/10uF, 3.3uF/0.33mH with a 4R/20R suggested L-pad. Maybe I can raise the treble a bit by mucking with the pad - ? Treble seems decent with ASD1001. and even far from the floor/ceiling, there's some LF energy on theater organ cds
I have Beta 10cx in two different cabinets - the little one in two-tone has about 1 cubic foot rear chamber - the larger/tall cabinet has fb right on at 40Hz

Some new choices have arrived in the last year, including a new Eminence Mylar ring radiator neo magnet item, but it is a bolt-on. Can I assume that a thread-on driver for the beta cx is more suitable than a bolt-on plus adaptor? I have one 8 and one 10 to play with before proceeding. Thanks
The bolt on to threaded adapter should be just fine. I have the 8cx and the N151M8 going into a build right now and it looks very promising.
I've also been in contact with Eminince and there is a possibility of seeing a thread on version of the N151M8 in the future.

Please report on your results (and x/o)
I certainly will. There is a build lot on PETT as well. The woofer is the Eminence Definimax 4012ulf-8 in 2cu and an fb of 38. I will be using a MINIDSP to cross between the woofer and mid/tweet. And passive between mid and tweet.
Rkondra, where is your crossover? I'm concerned the cone used as a waveguide would not give optimal results. Your chart shows I am probably wrong.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Acoustic xover is at about 2.3 KHz. Far from the electrical. Neither driver is very flat in the xover region. However, end result is good, with a deep null with tweeter inverted indicating good in-phase response throughout.
Not textbook, but measures (and sounds) good.
To your point, "optimal" ? not even close. Usable ? for sure !

what are the xover values on that 8cx? - I could give them a whirl in a little Karlson type cabinet (currently with Bob Crites' values and autoformer attenuation.) I like the 80oz magnet Eminence 12CX better than Beta10cx but that's in Ks. The "Osprey" project should be very good. My 53g mms Eminence 12cx has less sensitivity than the 80oz but more overhang, and 109oz magnet - tonally it was food with DGG Fritz Wunderlich lieder recital and such in a K12.
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Couple pics of my current project. 8cx w/n151m8 on top in .65 cubes sealed and 4012ulf8 in 2 cubes ported with an fb of 36. Hope to be testing next weekend.
I didn't read through all post, but has anyone measured different compression drivers with this driver?
Beta 12 CX
Freddi..
Where does one get an 80 oz. magnet version of the Beta 12? Have used several of these... 38 oz. is the standard and that is what the current Emi catalog shows:

This is already 97 dB per watt. Never seen a 12 CX rated higher than that. Could it be an older model ? I vaguely remember someone posted a picture of one with a cast frame ? Could see only part of the rear of the driver.

Finished. with ASD1001 compressors.
Very transparent, very punchy, very very beautiful speaker, but there are but's....
Will measure it soon and publish data here. Right now, i still prefer OR-70 close boxed speakers, on the last pick 🙂)
Crossover is an original eminence.

Are those pictures inverted or the speaker is close to the ceiling ? The driver axis should be at ear level for it to sound OK. Did you listen to them with the box raised to match your ear level ?

I did new pics, positioning and first two pics show the tweeter (Orange, Brown reversed connections).
I found the problem, omg. Inverting the tweeter connections brought back mids and tonality.
Connecting tweeter backwards results in strange vocals and mids.
That transparency ppl😎
Listening all the morning today, this beauties cannot be compared to OR-H70, not from any angle.
Another Beta 10CX speaker box is downstares, waiting the filters to be mounted.
