isn't that blatant advertising ?

There is no excuse for not building one now, boards, transformers and matched J-fets still available. I paired my F6 with a B1 on my horns and to me it is the best sound I have heard on my speakers. I built a B1 with parts I had on hand using Elna SILMIC II 10uh for the output capacitors since they sound so good in my BA3 preamp. Sounds fantastic and you cannot beat the price. Capacitors highly recommended by Papa.

As long as they have outputs that float in relationship to their chassis, yes, as you need to make a bioplar PSU.

Unless you have a +/-24 V, then you have nothing to worry about at all. 🙂

Please post lots of photos and information on how it works, I'm very interested in a SMPS solution for these amps.

Thanks the SMPS (I have a pair) have 25V-.. Gnd and 25v+ outputs
That what you mean?
Just that I have these new Gizmos and Far more enthusiasm than discretionary Coin 😱
Trying to decide before paying for Boards Txs and Jfets.

So I guess 400 or 500VA would be better.
The problem is that the power supply and the toroid have to fit in the 4U enclosure.
What kind of LEDs should I use?
I want to mount them on the front plate. I think 3mm is too small. Would 5mm look better? On the Firstwatt amplifiers the look big.

I used an Antek 500VA because that is what I had and I was a little concerned about the size interfering with the audio transformers but it turned out not to be a problem. I used a 4U enclosure. Here in the States the price difference is small between 300VA and 500VA. My LED's are inside.

F6 by the Pool

It was Canada Day here yesterday so it gave me some time to build the first of many F6 amplifier boards and test it.

No point in staying indoors when the weather is fine I'm sure Nelson would aprove!

Here it is on a temporary heatsink I will eventually get the 5U case for it as I'm running at a higher voltage as the 1500VA transformer I had access to is 24AC seems a shame not to use it.

It does indeed act like a tube amp as the 1000uF capacitors take some time to charge so the sound comes in nice and slowly.
