Can somebody explain the difference between the F6 and the M2.
I see both use same Fets, J Fets, and transformers etc. I would like to read articles about the two amp how they perform next to each other.
I do want to build one of these Mr. Pass design, I'm not sure which one
I see these kit back in the stock again, the M2 will has a GB to. I can not build both.
Greetings

Yes, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, Spencer has the genuine parts and is totally reliableYou can get matched sets from Spencer, Toshiba and a wide range of idss.
Very dependable.

I luckily have about 200 Toshiba 2SK170BL JFETs. I ordered some 2SJ74BLs from Spencer in the 7mA - 8mA range and will do my own matching.
Zhou Fang is where I got the 2SK170s from.

M2: Voltage gain provided by transformer, Zero Feedback, Common drain output
F6: Voltage gain provided by mosfet, Transformer provides phase inversion, Feedback, Common Source Output.
I haven't heard M2, so can't comment.
Srajan seemed to prefer F6 (my interpretation of his comments).

I would go for the F6 if I were you. A lot more builds with plenty of information and a detailed build thread and it is an amazing amp.
F6 kits back in the store. (EDIT - Well, the fulfillment company says they are there, but the F6 Kit page in the store isn't showing it yet... I'll look into it...)
If there is an initial rush where it clears out stock, don't worry, there are multiple boxes of kits in-transit to the store, and enough are being made to have good stock for some time.
Any word on 4U chassis? Its been a while.😕 I did see this: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/diyaudio-store/221218-chassis-discussion-7.html#post4540289
We will see...I've got F-6, AlephJ ready to put in box, beginning to collect parts for a BBA-3 preamp and 2 BBA-3 mono block Amps that will need 2 5U cases.
Really want at least one 4U to get this F-6 done, I've bumped it ahead of the AlephJ which has waited a long, long time.

The chassis are all going to ship from HiFi2000, so once it's up and running, in theory they will bnever be out of stock. 🙂 The hold-up is the new software and programming of the NEW diyAudio.com store website. It's in process, and looking like were getting towards full functionality.

Hi,
Can you give me the contact info for these sellers? I don't know where/how to find them.
Thanks,
John

Zhou Fang don't seem to be operating anymore. I checked his eBay site, and it is empty. He also had an active thread here on DIYAudio, but he don't seem to answer anything on there anymore. There is one bloke that gave him a grilling on the thread, and I think he thought by himself 'Stuff this, I am not doing this anymore'.

He was a great guy and donated a percentage of his profits back to diyaudio.
I see the store has sold out of the F6 kits real quick. The word is getting out about the sound of this amp. 6L6 said more are on the way soon though.

Wow that was fast.
Anyway, I had a few hours to play around with my build last
weekend. The bias on one channel was about 45mA higher
than the other. I made a quick adjustment to get it down to
about 12mA. The DC offsets for both channels are less than
10mV when warned up. Bias is about 1.3A (0.62V across 0.47
ohm resistors.)
As a fraidy cat amplifier builder, I decided to leave well enough
alone, and consider it done (for now.)

Dennis

I think I order a F6 Kit , readily available in one place the PC boards and the transformers no need for separate order. If the sound close to each other (someone wrote he prefer the F6 over the M2) better to go with the F6.
Before I order one or two more question
Do both has the same power, higher power better with my 87db speakers..
Can I drive 3 or 4Ohms speakers, now I have 8R but soon I will build a 3 way standing speakers with 2 X 8R woofers. (Each woofer measure 6.4R with DMM)
Can I use Toshiba 2SK1530 & 2SJ201 (I have a matched set) I want to put them in good use.
Thank you

It seems the F6 has slightly higher power into 4 ohm than the M2:
FIRST WATT PRODUCTS
You'll want to save your 2SK1530/2sj201 for something else; the F6 uses
two N-channel mosfets.

I drive a pair of stacked Large Advents (wired parallel)with mine (at max a 4 ohm load) no problem at all.
Anyone know if a .51 ohm source resistor will make more of a sonic difference than a .56 ohm resistor?
thanks,
Vince
