Yes!
Makes sense. Vintage Altec stuff is rare over here but according to what I've seen on the net they seem to exist in "50 shades of grey", often with a tint of blue or green?
Yeah, with the exception of the THX prototypes, all of the VOTT prosound systems I've ever seen pics of or in person were built with cheap wood and only fit/finished just good enough for behind screen apps....and beaten up in various ways 🤣
Just finished cutting the first few bits to make the internal mold and clamps and bloody hell did I smoke up the house. I wouldn’t be surprised if neighbours actually call firemen at some point.
I spent several hours with the windows open and although not freezing, february temps in Barcelona aren’t exactly tropical.
Very very excited though and it feels promising!

Hey ,
i'm 90% done with my multicell horns.
Only tested them in my open baffle speakers with a fullrange driver from 500 hz up quickly adapted in the horn.
The horns will be equiped with a planar ribbon when they are done. For now they sound very impressive at least.

I do hope that the cell entries will be reduced/sharpened. That will make a big difference.
I can only speculate as the design choice is not presented yet.
The original thought about the sharpening is not to provide a smooth transition. It is to match the exit area of the throat adapter to the entry area of the multi cellular section of the horn. This is to make the horn expansion continuous.

I have to do little frame on exit around, make thinner walls for the imput, veneer and thats all i hope 🙂Impressive work! What do you have left to do?
It's expanding foam after all woodwork îs glued together. The imput will have thinner walls when finished. The driver will be flat with minimum distante to entryReally nice looking!
Did you fill the inter cell space with PU-foam? What was the process?
How come you did not shapen the cell entries? Unless you mount the driver as the full range you used, there will be a sudden change in cross section area if an throat adapter is used.

The horn will sit on an open baffle H frame , i only tested it with my regular dipol setup.I can only speculate as the design choice is not presented yet.

Great build and much dedication.
Actually, I've never heard multi cell horns!😢
Spent all my time down various profile round horns, and now MEHs, rabbit holes😀
I've read about them and read reviews etc of course.

That may be true, but the sound of those fascinating constructions are never outdated 🙂Sadly, due to ample output power that is available nowadays for cheap, fascinating constructions like these as well as LF horns have become somewhat outdated :-(.
While looking at all the recent pictures, I am beginning to feel the need for some wooden multicell horns again🙂 I wish I had some space for them at home.
