I wonder why they are looking, what will it prove/show?
If you believe that there is no point in science looking for things you have fundamentally missed the point of being human.
but they'd be better with listening instead of looking.

Is it that they want to prove life isn't unique to Earth?
Perhaps people that want to prove something are being flattered in order to secure funding for actual discoveries? Also public image, searching for life sounds good on TV.
Personally I wouldn't be surprised to find microbes of some sort.
What do you think would be a better use of the Mars rover, or do you simply object to the stated goal?
Looks like certain members are trying to stir up political/religious type arguments again regarding personal beliefs about who can or can't hear what. Those arguments have never reached an agreeable conclusion in the decades they have been going on. The arguments tend to aggravate human tendencies towards social polarization, anger, and hate. Probably better to leave the peace be.

I wouldn't either. The search for life could be PR, sounds feasible.
I compared the email I got with the posted version and can't see any significant material change, so not sure what you are trying to say here?😀 Yup, another edited post.

They differ by an "n".
Let's move on

Curmudgeons going to be curmudgeons. I will wait with baited breath to an honest and technical critique why sending rovers to another planet is a waste of time. You know, the one in our solar system with the *best chance* of being our way off this rock we're on. It sure might be nice to see if other life forms have figured out how to live on that environment. Fermi's paradox is always knocking at our door.
Perhaps it was hospitable in the past. Being a future home seems pure science fiction. You know, the one in our solar system with the *best chance* of being our way off this rock we're on. It sure might be nice to see if other life forms have figured out how to live on that environment.
^ The lack of imagination here is astounding. Pray do tell, why is it "pure science fiction"?
I look forward to your technical analysis in contrast to a 15 word response.

I said seems. I don't have the knowledge for a technical analysis, but you probably knew that already. You could try googling what imaginative experts at NASA think about it.
Who sent you email?I compared the email I got with the posted version
