Yes it's all very ironic. Like that ozone hole of decades ago. Lots of people saying 'there is no ozone hole'. Then societies take measures to limit those gasses that destroy the ozone, the ozone layer recovers, the hole disappeared, and those same people say - see, there is no ozone hole, I told you years ago.
The problem is that when you refuse to think critically but just blabber away, there's always simple people that actually believe it.

Indeed. The ozone hole was a slam dunk science wise. Measured lower levels of ozone where inversely proportional to measured levels of cfc's.

Which is bad is we tried to give time to Americas because they had precious time, italians hadn't because they were surprised. You can think a pandemic makes equal everybody as there is not more than a sapiens looking like an other sapiens... but no people still see grups everywhere don't thinking to individuals as the nurses, doctors, researcher, everyday workers and their families... That's very odd at XXI century where information technology can inform an important part of the world and schools are more than in the XX century beginnings....
I think for US, if you simplify to the limit, there are two camps : the Elephant that fears he has a trump because its eyes see the virus really exists. And the Donkey that have big ears but didn't listen about the virus because his little nose can save him ! Caricatural, but good joke ! In Europe : Italy, Spain, France, UK soon : the problem is not only breathing system or masks lacked but there are not doctors enough due to the overflooding of patients... I think we are not discouraged to say it again : be prudent, save your lives... economies can be freezed and resurected, not people. Countries executives should stay decent and not fight each others for internal politic reason on the face of the world, but cooperate in order to manage the crisis... that's what they are paid for... All people is important, I saw there is one infected in Papua NewGuinea... one of the last place where some people still live like 12 000 years ago (almost as modern goods went to them)... Do they diserve to die because cheap goods or Iphones for some ? Of course not, so it's not time to fight but cooperate... which seems to be the model that works !

I think that the zeitgeist for several years has been one of increasing anxiety and stress, look at the factors we are dealing with.
Ecological catastrophe, distrust of politicians, polarisation over religion and politics, many commuters spending hours on overcrowded roads, recessions from '08, and now another due to virus, the increasing amount of communications and correlating non observance of them, wrong information flying around, and a reduction in etiquette.

Haha I taught my partner Texas Hold Em one time, then confused her with 5 card stud.
