10 - The Joshua Tree - U2
"The Joshua Tree" is an album, not a song.
Please feel free to change this entry, if you want.
However, I just remembered that I made the exact same mistake choosing "The Joshua Tree" as a song (but it is not!) some time ago with a topic that also involved trees.
Anyway, when it was pointed out to me, I then replace it with "Pepper-Tree" by Cocteau Twins. 🙂
11 - David Sylvian & Ryuichi Sakamoto - Bamboo Houses
Charles Darwin is right: bamboo is a grass not a tree.
And this is not splitting hair at all, in my opinion.
This only proves that this thread is more challenging than some people think and that if this thread is taken lightly then these are the predictable results.
In my view, fun must be taken seriously 😳, if you know what I mean, otherwise only one person is having fun.
But, the real fun is when we all have fun together, not only one. IMHO
13 - Cactus Tree - Joni Mitchell
Cacti are not trees, they can be arborescent, but for me all the inappropriate entries are fine the same, otherwise it's not even remotely a fun anymore, at least for me.
Please note that I didn't want to quote any nick-name not only because obviously there's nothing personal, but also because I'm completely convinced that no one did it on purpose and that's really fine with me.
Yet, this thread is much more than those who think that pointing out an error is splitting hairs, but not everyone manages to achieve this. 👽
Peace and Love. 😍
P. S.: Anyway, if anyone wants to take up the issue: go ahead!

@ulogon You are absolutely right...Joshua tree isn't a song at all, it's not even in any lyrics on that album!! My bad and it's now corrected!

You don't know how much I wish I had understood the above and how frustrating it is for me not to have understood it. 🙄Despite the theme, I'm pleased that we haven't had too much low hanging fruit yet. 😆
However, if we look around, it seems that your post was prophetic given that apparently we have also arrived just at the fruits... 😀

I could've picked the natiuonal anthem of the Swedish region of Smalandia, where I come from - The Smalandia Song. The fir is also mentioned.
Swedish
Röd lyser stugan bak hängbjörkens slöja,
känner du hemmet från barndomens år?
English
Red shines the cabin behind the hanging birch's veil,
do you know home from your childhood years?
The Smalandia Song

This will probably be my last post here, I don't use Google, I have no music files on my laptop or iPhone. When I post here, I go to my record collection using my memory, which is fading with time. Some here forget that MUSIC is an ART not a science, if Joni says in 1968, on her first album produced by David Crosby, that Cactus Tree, then I'm going to post her ART.

They pointed out an error to me too, but I wasn't offended.
In fact, after just 10 minutes someone even recommended an alternative entry to me.
But I wasn't offended.
In fact, I thanked him and corrected my mistake.
And we had fun.
You, on the other hand, wanted to choose to be offended.
Looking back, I hadn't even deleted your entry, but I had said that all of them were fine, even the wrong ones.
But now the right list is the following and both whoever made a mistake and everyone else knows the why.

There are numerous thorn trees, here is a link to the South African variety:
Vachellia erioloba
Also: Honey locust (Gleditsia triacanthos), also known as thorny locust or thorn tree, is a medium sized tree with pleasing, graceful foliage.
Somehow, a song titled 'Vachellia Erioloba in the Garden" or 'Gleditsia Triacanthos in the Garden' is not going to be very popular...

On occassions I have left the thread because I have had other interests I wanted to care for, but ...
... this is not World Athletic Championships. No-one will be punished for NOT contributing with a song, and no-one will get a Nobel Prize for finishing the list.
However in my little world, sticking to the rules is a great idea as we are many nit-pickers, rivet-counters, grammar-fascists and whatnot, ready to strike.
Just accept this a game, like Monopoly where you win sometimes and loose sometimes, don't cheat, don't cut corners, and the jazzpolice won't be banging on your door in case of a walkover. Instead pat your back if you come if with something correct but very unique.

Thank you.
I think soundbrigade meant sticking to the rules in our own mind ("in my little world,"), to have more fun.

Then I didn't understand it twice, because I still don't understand what it means and anyway I deleted my erroneus and undeserved post above.
However, the word "grammar-fascists" had made me suspicious.
Let it be known that personally I'm from a (very) different side.
Thank you, Allen. 👍
[IMHO]
All this because in this thread you establish a ridiculously easy theme and there are those who post the name of a fruit instead of a tree, the name of a grass instead of a tree and no one should say a word?
And if so, are you a "grammar-fascist"?
No, excluding real distractions, that's simply called sloppiness.
[/IMHO]

I don't think that's what soundbrigade meant. He was talking about all of us ("as we are many") 😉And if so, are you a "grammar-fascist"?
There is no reason why this game can't be both fun and educational, especially for those of us for whom English is not their native tongue.
I kinda like it when people expand the list restrictions in imaginary ways. Done that myself a few times and the last one was the Moth/Butterfly one which to be fair I stretched to (almost) breaking point. 😉
It is normally the person who came up with the theme who decides if a contribution is a stretch too far and not up to contributors to police a list.
