Thagard/Pass colaborations

Here is another project that Dr. Thagard had Mr. Pass consult on. It was published in Audio Equipment Authority in Jan. through Feb. of 95.

I have attached a PDF of the schematic for the CLASS A 100 Watt Amplifier section. I do have all three articles available, but thought I would start with this schematic to see if there is any interest.

I remember that project. It appeared also in February '95 issue of Audio magazine. I've got the original copy with the pictures of a finished amp.

I think this project was published after the A75, which was 1972 was it not?

A75 was 1992.

The 100 watt Thagard amplifier was not a collaboration,
it was entirely Norm's. My participation was limited to
running some performance curves on it for publication.

The A75, on which we did collaborate is a different
amplifier.

That's probably why it cought my attention while I didn't really care much about the other amp. A75 just looked better on paper.

Which brings us back to the A75 that I am building as the Amp designed by Dr. Thagard in 1972 had a nasty habit of toasting my Transistors.

on a complete side note, i have NEVER seen anyone give another human being such respect as what's given to Nelson Pass in this forum. it makes me want to hear one of your amps even more!

btw, on my way to building an aleph 2. wish me luck. ill need it. i cant wait to hear what one of these sound like.

hehe. i didnt really mean it to come across like that. but, of course, respect is what makes anyone feel good about themselves.

but i think it just speaks volumes about how music can influence our lives, and how passionate some of the people here truly are. you are a celebrity to many of us.

No to get to sentimental, but I do consider Mr. pass to somewhat of an Icon myself.

My all time hero is William Shockly and his team at Bell labs. God bless thier souls.

Shockley had achieved fame and distinction as the solid-state physicist who headed the three-man team which in 1948 at Bell Telephone Laboratories invented the transistor. For this revolutionary innovation, which was to transform the world, Shockley and his co-workers were awarded the 1956 Nobel Prize for Physics. Subsequently he became Physics Professor at Stanford University.
