Hi Pedja, glad to see you back in the thread 🙂
Thanks.

I'm using the IR MBR1100 100V 1A Schottky TO-41 diodes. I think they're the equivalent of the BAT49s.

So the same package (DO-41 actually) as 1N5819, though looking at the picture your diodes seemed to me like they are bigger. So I’ve checked these 1N5819 I have and they seem to be closer to the bottom end of tolerance (0.16”). But I think all should be fine with 0.2” if leads are bent right at the start.

1) Jumper the the pads by pins 5 of the AD844 to route to R111/R115. I'm assuming that R104/R108 and C121/C124 remain.

Yes. It boils down to that the marked three pads should be electrically connected, i.e. upper left should be connected to one of two others.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

2) Disconnect or remove R105/R109, and route R114, R118 to C122 and C125.

May be done that way, and also just moving C122/125 this way.

Excellent🙂
So what do you think regarding the sound?
Mines almost finished, are those cases available to buy or is it one you made?

Thanks 🙂

I made the case. About the sound, right now I don't have speakers at home (I'm dying to listen 🙂 ). But, seeing who made this PCB, must sound excellent.

Well you made a nice job of the case🙂
I also can't wait to listen to mine, I'm also sure it will sound excellent.
All I need now is the 12 x 0.1uf polypropylenes, 9v transformers (lowest I have is 12v) and a case.
What type of 1k5 resistors do you use in the I/V stage? I was thinking about using Rikens

I'm also using Rikens and they seem like a good choice. The other better choice here could be Caddock TF020.

Hi Pete,

What size are those Caddocks, I presume they are bigger than the Rikens?
Would you say the Caddocks are worth the higher price over the Rikens?
I noticed you use Rikens with good results in your TDA1543 dac

Actually the spacing on those Caddocks is similar to Rikens: 0.600. The overall size is 0.750 by 0.375 and they cost about $6 from Percy.

I did not try them yet, but another builder did some comparisons and his findings corelate very much with what I experienced: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=487490#post487490

Those Caddacks are also used in AckdAck for I/V conversion.

While this relates to 1543 passive I/V I don't think it would be much different with Pedja I/V output stage.

As a matter of fact I've built last week TDA1541 based DAC with Pedja's output (with Rikens) and it sounds indeed very well. However, I'm using parallel TDA1541 DACs.

Cheers Pete, I'll give them a try then, I've never used Rikens or Caddocks before so your opinion is much appreciated

Hmm, did you build Pedja's I/V stage yourself P2P or did you use the one that came with the dac Kit? if its the one with the kit then you'll find that it could be different to Pedja's😉
I also built a dac using two TDA1541's with passive I/V and 6C45PI buffer, it should be interesting to see how these two dacs compare.

I'm using one of the early version of tube-lover kit I bought from another member who decided not to go with it.

I compared it with Pedja's schematic, and apart from PS, the output stage is the same. It sounds very good.

I wasn't really convined that parallel DACs can sound good, but if you connect oscillator caps on both DACs this brings it to a totally different level. The best DAC I tried so far. I'm also using S2 grade of TDA1541.
