Variac,Variac said:Hey Romy, Since it was clear a good while back that this thread isn't up to your standards why not start your own "Real" audio thread? As you've pointed out- even when someone has a system that you approve of, you end up with a half dozen recordings at best that are "worthy" of your system- the caricature of the audiophile with 100k of equipment an 10 recordings comes to mind...🙄
I am just queries what gave to you this impression? Do not forget that people interacting via Internet (without knowing "the reasons" and a “state of reality”) are not listening to the opponents/collaborators but just are exposing to their own prejudices and fears. This would apply to your sentiments about my “100k of equipment”, about my "half dozen recordings at best that are worthy" and about MY perception of what it the “real audio” would be. Quite honestly you fears are completely groundless and I do not have any particular interests to "work” with your problems. No insult intended but you are obviously really missing what it is all about.

Till,
Are you a German German or you just live in Germany? I have a question to ask about some aspects of the Germany's Audio. It is not the exactly this thread related but I personally would find that it’ll be more usefully for myself by asking you the question then to humiliate myself by barking about the TAD drivers and Rolling Stones' harmonies.

My questions are intended seriosly.

Hi till, Romy, all
I must say , I'm very curious, too.
Not about the music, I'll play what I like anyway,
but your way to speakers and amps , Romy,
would be interesting.
cheers

Till,
I am looking for a performance of operetta “Paris in Spring” (Das Veilchen vom Montmartre) by Emmerich Kalman. I need it of course in German and preferably from 1947-1957. I have the fairly powerful recourses to get any performance from anywhere but the ‘Das Veilchen vom Montmartre” I have been searching for years and quite unsuccessfully. Perhaps you would be able to point me out to a recording or at least to let me know if a recording of this operetta was ever recorded and available (any format including 78s would be fine). Should you help you would have a fully appreciative Cat over here…

I would like to remind you that this interaction is not about people but about the people’s thinking and the people’s ideas. Contrary to you, I have no slightest interest about the Romy’s speakers and the Romy’s amps.

Hi PTSOUNDLAB,
Just an observation, since you have your plans ready,
our plans allways change over time as we develop our references,
at least my plans change continously as I learn more,
so a modular aproach might be good , you are then much more free to
develop your system over time.
I have made a lot of bad horns and speakers in my time ,
fortunately they all made good firewood , to heat my listening room
while I'm building more horns 😉
cheers 😉

Slowmotion, yes I think I will certainly build a sato, but it's a hard job and I think I will need a long time.

Well, Romy
To put it that way ,
your ideas and thinkings would be interesting,
but I must admit, based on your posts so far ,
that you as a person is not so interesting to me,

Re: Re: project
You are apparently a smart man as you feed the bad horns to your chimney. Most of the people out there put their bad horns on the funny pedestals, continue listening bad sound from the bad horns and treat their results as a new audio Messiah. It would be interesting to learn what you already went through and where you are planning to move in future. Actually, it would be nice to have a dedicated forum about Horns, due to this subject if a very different segment of Audio and it has no common denominators with the rest of the boxed misery (or something that the ignorant people call loudspeakers)

I think that perhaps Till has done a better job of getting at what Roomy is trying to talk about with "Real" audio than Romy is.
I like to think that we play by "gentleman’s rules" here. We also like a good argument, especially when it leads to a good exchange of technical details.
Romy, I'm not a person in great position for giving either technical advise or advise on social skills but perhaps you will be better accepted after you've shared a little more of your knowledge. Its relatively easy to be dismissive of someone else’s tastes or to display distaste for a genre of music, but as you’ve pointed out, it takes some effort to teach other people.
If as DIY enthusiast were all sitting here in a swamp and our interests don’t mesh well with yours, fine. There is however no reason (here) to be egalitarian about it. Were not groups of aspiring recording engineers, PA gurus, or even for the most part people who will ever seek to make a dime out of their audio interests? We are a group of people who mostly ENJOY audio and like to talk about it.
I’ve read people here trying to be contrite with you, as well as having a little fun with you and for your part you seem to remain as *****ly as a ****ed off porcupine in a cactus field. For my part I’ve already hit the report button and asked the moderators to look into whether you’re truly offensive or if I’m just being far too sensitive. Hell, I’m actually sorry to be posting all this, but you don’t seem to be responding well to indirect requests.
You don’t like Pink Floyd or just don’t think that it’s good reference material. That’s fine too. But you’ve in telling us that, you have failed to share your thoughts on what “real” audio is. I think that’s the part I’m having a problem with. Your telling us you know better, but not sharing what better is. That’s not as OK. But then stating the majority of the DIY community is off in the swamp, well hell even if its true, its not a great way to win friends and influence other people. Think about what the name of the forum is.
My humble opinions.

Mr Cat,
The subject of this thread is TAD 2401
I was serious about starting your own thread about "Real Audio"
There are many people on this forum I'm sure that could be interested in you observations, and the idea of a proper horn system or proper music to listen to, and mono systems.
there are others that enjoy systems and music that might not be "Real Audio" but give them pleasure.
If your "Real Audio " thread became popular, then I'm sure the management would consider a separate horn area in the speaker section. I would be interested in any observations of yours, and if you are not interested in spending time giving them, why are you wasting time writing?

The "Real Audio" has nothing to do with horns system, mono, hardware, “software” or with audio as it understood among the audiophilism infected hoi-polloi. The "Real Audio" is a state of self-consciousness when the technical statements of audio-engineering do not have any conflict with any other individual demands, and audio itself, is organically melted with a human physical, spiritual and intellectual needs. I have many reasons to feel that the conversation about the "Real Audio" would not be possible at this forum.
However, I do support an idea about you, the local guys, start you own Horn Sub-Forum.

Romy, i would be very interested to learn more about you experience. What a mess you seem not to like the idea to share you knowledge.
You are not one more incarnation of our all beloved Alice Liddle ?
Did you try to contact the Deutsche Rundfunkarchiv? Its really a difficult job you gave me. I´ll ask a dealer in the next larger city next time i´m there.

Till,
Sorry that I bothered you with it but I thought that if you do some Web searches in German language (I unfortunately can’t read German) that you would be able to find a fact that it was recorded or released anywhere. A label name and an approximate year of the performance it would be all that I need. Thanks you very much for your affords.

I guess you are not over sensitive and figured the Cat correctly. Check this link to a post from AA, showing Romy at it's best: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=59084#post59084
To me, that was always the greatest example of the state of self-consciousness when the technical statements of audio-engineering do not have any conflict with any other individual demands.😉
I was thinking for a moment if I should reply… then I looked at this from a different perspective and I decided to let it go. If the audio-unfortunates have to other means to identify themselves in audio besides stupidly and ignorantly barking at The Cat then I probably should let them to indulge themselves…Peter Daniel said:I guess you are not over sensitive and figured the Cat correctly. Slowmotion my project is just a project and it will grown up with time, it is not solidified. Certainly the first plan will evoluate and it's why I try to learn and exchange with other people. No one of us could say that he know everything or that he have the truth. And it's why I like to speak with people like you or others like variac. Every day we learn about something and it's the interest of forum or simply the interest of life. But when I reed Romy's post I don't want to post, because I don't want to speak with people who have no respect for others. I hate people who disparage (dénigrer in french). Audio is a subjective domain, what we want ? not the perfect system in theory but the system wich give us the more emotion and the more respect of what we have listen in "live". I could go to a concert of rolling stones or at the opera, and what i want when I am at home, finding the same emotion and realism. When I listen a CD of the Doors, what I want ? could having the same thing that they have when they have recording. I don't care about people who give lessons about the "real", but I care about people who want to exchange and want to transmit their knowledge and experience. I'm happy when someone say to me that i'm not in a good way for my project, when he say me you are wrong, but when he say me why, because i learn and it's good. But when I read Romy's post, the only thing I read is "you are a hole of ***", and it put to me in anger and it's difficult to me to stay cool.
So I prefer that this thread will be closed
Romy, just a last thing, if the "real", "the perfect" exist, don't waste time here, build your system and sell it over the world, there is no reason for having so many different systems if one is the best. Without resentment 😉
Best Regards.
Pascal.
