T-TQWT for a theatre stage

Hi Scruffyht,

You'll have to work out the details for driver mounting and access yourself. There should be 1/16" clearance (minimum) all around the drivers. For stuffing refer to the last drawing, same general guide lines apply here.

There are some differences in the Hornresp simulation. The fill will take care of that.

You can use this as an example on how to slant a baffle for a SDX15 (use 65 degrees).

Regards,

Thanks Oliver ... one question ... how wide is the box?

Hi Scruffyht,

I hope these will do well for you. Permo's thread is a good one to reference for construction details, and stuffing advice. This all goes back to bjorno's effort to popularize this type of enclosure.

Have you decided what to do with your SDX15(s)?

Regards,

Hi Oliver ... I am in analysis paralysis with the SDX15 at the moment ... I have the wood cut to build a LLT and one driver ... bjorno tried his best to explain how to incorporate that into his design but I am clueless on what the box dimensions would look like and what the difference in performance would be

The other thing is I am trying to track down another SDX15 ... I am told the MK11 is almost ready ... but the thread over at the shack for the MK11 is over 1 and 1/2 years old and they are still trying to find the right magnet so it is still a ways from production imo

I have already spent the couple hundred on wood for the LLT design for 2 boxes so I should just build it as is with the driver I have ... I will have 2 X T-TQWT at the front of the theatre in the stage plus the 2 X LLT under the riser ... that should cover it right? 😀

Can't see why not. I suppose it depends on what kind of SPL you need. If its just a house then that should knock your socks off. My amp for my horn sub tapered quarter wave sub generally runs around 10 watts for normal use. Its only got a 100 watt amp and I don't think I've ever run it at full power for fear of my eardrums and windows, and things did fall off of the shelves on the other side of the room (not little things either!).

Are you talking about the gain settings on the receiver to control what goes to the Sansui amp?

Is it ok to drive one channel only on the Sansui amp? ... the sub out is a single rca but all inputs on the Sansui amp are L & R

Also for sub hookup ... do I use left channel in for instance and left speaker to drive the sub?

Ummm usually they are set up so you can run the main LR output through the sub and pass it along to the main speakers. The sub then low passes and sums those two signals for its own use. If there is a single rca sub output then just put it to either the left or right input on the sub amp and it should work fine.

On my receiver I can adjust gain and crossover settings for the sub, I just set the crossover dial on the sub all the way up and adjust it from the receiver. I also set the volume to some medium level on the sub and fine tune it with the gain settings on the receiver

I hope this answers your question. I've never liked to set it up how they want with the mains going through the sub because I am always wary of signal degradation so I usually try to bypass it if I can and drive just the left or right channel on the sub as you are suggesting. So yes it will work
