now testing this 'tone curcuit' on different basses

this is simpler, and better
cleaner, and tighter
and somehow results in better harmonics
also, instrument is easier to tune
tested on two basses, and result is more or less the same

it is 100% clear now that a tone control also affects tuning
and could be quite a lot really, and even involve the bridge

so, if anyone have a bass that is 'difficult' to tune, it might very well be caused by the tone control

this is simpler, and better
...

and this is the final result of the tests
best allround tone of all I have tried yet
at least for my speaker it is

typically I use caps from 15n to 33n
series resistor varies from 1k to 3k
parallel resistor on pot is typically around 22k
small variations depends on each instrument

anyway, I found out why the truss rod never functioned properly

a big lump of glue was in the way, and the nut was missing 5mm to be positioned correctly 😱

seems they forgot to screw the nut fully in before mounting fretboard 😡

I always feared the truss rod was faulty
but expect it will be ok now, at least 🙂
