Switchable Hi-Z input impedance, how ?

yeah, I have a old lathe, and know how to use it
unfortunately no power connection, yet

even a small sanding machine would be great
which I also have, but again, no power for it

also a bench drill would be a great help
that I have too, but no power ... :clown:

so, like I said in post #675, right now it is as much about finding a method that goes without advanced tools 😉
but thanks anyway

bottom with the bigger hole glued
knob 'lid' ready

looking at tone curcuit
this is my first passive with two tone controls
plays nice, but 'artificial' and gnarly

appears the tone controls are just one on each pickup
not sure why they call that bass and treble controls
took out the caps and measure them, and they they are both 70n

and, I found one one cap to be very poorly soldered, and loose
quite a mess with all those wires
will change that later
for now I just moved the caps to positive side of signal

nice change, and improved the already good playability even further

🙂

testing different strap pin/button placement

this particular bass have exstreme offset
the experiment started because I found it very stressing

but in the end I have decided to keep it
proved quite good for the low wearing rock style

but absolutely no good for a high wearing
makes this bass feel like a crawbar
a small offset to the opposite side cured this completely
actually, almost feels like it lost a pound or two
a nice surprice

new bass just came in 😀 ... a really cool and cheap Toby

trying to reuse the present pots, two 500K, and one 1M
balance pot went out
1M for the tone pot sounded very thin, and not good at all
but a 50K resistor takes care of that
nice and easy 🙂
