I`ll added some stuffing into my Pensils and I have to admit: it works! Bass is much deeper and punchy, midds are clearer, I like that. High`s do not dominating like before. Sound is balanced, and consistent. Thanks everyone for advise! I have to experiment a bit with quantity of stuffing in the box, but it`s a good direction.

You need to tease the polyfil out more, make it fluffier. And start from the top down like the pic.

Hi all. Recently completed Frugel-Horn XL with MAOP 10. (Excellent kit from big wood studios). Late to the game thinking they would not be sensitive enough for my SET amps. I am blown away…these are my favorite pairing with my 45 type 1.5 W SET. Amazing design from some really talanted individuals. My only complaint is that I wish I had acquired them sooner.
My curiosity is piqued as to how the 12P might pair with this amplifier. I am interested in opinions as to the “best” enclosure for the 12P for a low powered SET.
Thanks!

Truly amazes me that it was the lack of fluffed/teased poly that was needed.I`ll added some stuffing into my Pensils and I have to admit: it works! Rob7,
If you like the Frugel Horn aesthetic, then you can have a look at the Joan horn which is for Alpair 12P.

Unlikely, Pensil MA200 i quite different size. I haven’t finished the official drawing, Scott has a sketch posted i believe.

Unfortunately not -as Dave says, they're very different drivers, even in (functional) size. New one in the works though. 😉
Looking forward to the new design. Scott, enjoy and appreciate your lectures.
None of those I hope, except the historical ones for my old students & various conferences / societies... 😉

For bracing, a couple of 1x2 criss cross the enclosure would not be sufficient, maybe even 2 rows, front and back?

Not nearly as good, better than nothing.

I’d still want to brace the front panel to rear as well, as per the photo of Jeff’s Super Pensils in post #22. I certainly did so in my A7.3 and 10.3 Pensils.
The FrugalHorn series are I think braced quite well enough laterally? - but then, I’ve never been inspired to acquire an accelerometer to measure their side panels.

And a zillion others as well.
A driver holey brace is something i have considered for an over-the-top Frugel-Horn.
It is not included because A/ the dimensions and “brace” at the top make for a sigificantly stiff part of the enclosure. B/ sort of like the reason it is MIA in most drawings — simplicity, but it would be more difficult, and unlike thePensil where the big difference would be in the Pensil cabinet walls are braced, in a FH itwould be a much subtler difference midTop.
Now i expect we will see someone try it?
