well if he isn't coming back....
Perhaps we can speculate a little bit. the III-series offers 65-80 Lumens (with no UV) in packages 1/2-1" around. They have a 5500 color temp. With the lens, you can get a 10degree viewing angle. The best way would probably be to make a wall of them about the size of your LCD.
1 - Is this bright enough?
2 - Will you get hot spots? If so, how can you get rid of that?
Preumably, you could put them very close to lcd and greatly reduce the size of these projectors. What are people's thoughts on this?

Can i ask a newb question about this? Obviously the author wont respond, but maybe you guys will.
1. i see that is a lens from a CRT projector, what does he mean "immersed in the liquid"? ive heard of a liquid coolant in projectors/rptvs, never knew much about it.
2. What the heck were those LEDs? Are those like the LEDs you get in those wicked bright flashlights on a keychain that blind people?
3. How would this work with a lens barrel out of an RPTV? A barrel from an opaque projector? We garbage pick constantly, and old busted RPTVs are too common.
Thanks in advance.

I guess this guy disappeared. Has anybody tried anything since? I was wondering if it would be possible to take an lcd projector and swap in an LED lamp assembly somehow. I have a Hitachi PJ TX200.
i would not try to do that but if your willing ot get a cheap lcd apnel adn some leds along with a cheap lens it would be a cool experiment, again i would not take apart a working projectora
