Hello all, hope your all having a great day.
I work for a non profit for children.
I was donated two marantz sr6011 avrs and 6 sound town nx 4 channel amps 750 watts per channel. Last but least about 30 speakers. It's to setup a audio system for movies and plays.
I got most of it wired but having a problem with the subwoofers. I am using 1 of the amps for two subs bridged. Sub one to channel 1 and 2. Sub 2 to 3 and 4. How to I hook up that amp to the avr? I tried to the subwoofer out and it's very low. I also tried in the preouts and get nothing. The subwoofers are 800 watt 12" passive. Also is any settings in the avr would be a big help to make it sound better.

The sub/pre out is capable of 1.2v output.
If your RCA to whatever input used on the NIX-6000X4 is not wired correctly, output could be severely reduced.
Also, you need to set the sub output to a reasonable level:

What are the subwoofers? If they are a home or car audio type then they won't produce a lot of SPL for the power consumed.

Should I use rca to 1/4 or will that make a difference. I have rca to rca on it now. The instructions online are confusing. I have seen posts where people hook these up to a iphone threw rca. Can't understand why an avr is not loud as can be.
The connection type won't make a difference. Check the settings in the AVR, in many cases the speaker setup menu us where you need to go.. set the mains to small and enable the LFE out, and if there is an adjustable crossover set it to 80-100hz to start and crank up the level as high as it will go.
Then you don't need to bridge amp channels.. one per driver should do.They are Dayton 12 inch subwoofer in a homemade in closer. 800watt peak 8ohm
Oh hang on.. it's rated 375w/ch at 8ohms so maybe a bridged pair is the way to go.
800W peak on a very lucky day could mean 400W RMS
One woofer per 375W channel looks like a good match to me; 2 channels bridged will probably destroy them in a jiffy.

I tried both bridged and single still low, changed it to single. So I reset the marantz avr and it started working. I think during setup maybe it senses the stuff connect on the pre amp board? A friend said he had to do the same thing when he changed his subwoofer the sub pre out wasn't putting out any volume.
The volume is way better but still low unless I turn the marantz 80% up. Should I get a line booster to boost the volume?
The level lights on the amp go about 2 notches up.

The level lights are -12, -6, 0, +6, +12 and clip, an unconventional labeling scheme, normally the last indicator light on an amplifier before clip should be "0dB".The volume is way better but still low unless I turn the marantz 80% up. Should I get a line booster to boost the volume?
The level lights on the amp go about 2 notches up.
Each increase of 6dB should be equivalent to increasing power by 4 times.
Assuming the amp can produce 375 watts per channel into 8ohms at clip, the indicator lights should indicate reaching these power levels:
-12 =1.46 watts
-6 =5.86 watts ("2 notches up")
0=23.435 watts
+6=93.75 watts
+12= 375 watts
At "-6" on the NIX-6000X4, your sub is about -18dB from what it could produce at full power. -10dB sounds half as loud, so what you are hearing is about 1/4 as loud as it would be if the amp was driven to it's potential.
The Marantz SR6011 is capable of only 1.2volt output, 3.8dBU.
I could not find any specifications on the NIX-6000X4 other than output.
It is possible the NIX-6000X4 amp may require a +12 dBU (about 3volts RMS) input for full power, which would require an additional pre-amp ("line booster") to achieve.
Run a 60 Hz sine wave into the SR6011, measure the sub output level at the end of the RCA cord with a voltmeter to determine if it is reaching it's full 1.2volt output before purchasing a pre-amp.

It looks like you have more of a driving signal problem (too weak) than a power amp one.
I fear one day you feed high signal (even if by accident) and blow your speakers through the roof.
IF you can measure signal level we´ll be walking on firmer ground.
Do you have a meter with a 200mV AC scale?
If not, buy one, you need it.
Cheapies sporting only a 200VAC and 750VAC scale are useless here.

On the website is said .77v that's what confused me if the marantz is putting out 1.2v should be louder I would think. The level lights are -12, -6, 0, +6, +12 and clip, an unconventional labeling scheme, normally the last indicator light on an amplifier before clip should be "0dB".

Should I try maybe they main pre out left or right. I was thinking maybe the subwoofer pre out is less? I might try that as the subwoofer have a crossover on them so the marantz wouldn't need to control it.
Thanks for all you help. I am doing this on my own time for the kids want them to be able to have a cinema experience since they cant go to a real one.
