i wasn't sure which forum to post this.. so i posted it here in hopes of some advice...
anyhoos...
its kinda wierd to explain so ill just draw it out..
current sub setup:
computer soundcard subwoofer out -> low pass active crossover -> receiver with a dismal subsonic filter -> subs ported @ 32hz....
proposed setup:
computer soundcard subwoofer out -> high pass active crossover set @ 32 hz 12 db/slope -> low pass active crossover -> receiver with subsonic filter turned off -> sub ported @ 32hz...
to me the proposed setup seems fine but would there any disadvantages to it? ....

Doyou mean that your sound card sub out is feeding an out board xo or are you feeding sound card sub out stright to amp. Its a good idea to use subsonic filter on ported speakers to protect them when they unload below port tuning.

so now you have 2 subsonic filters??? i suppose you cant bypass the one you think is crap..
it would be best to have one Good one..
does it not stop unloading well enough?? if your subs are tuned to 32hz then it must be VERY low sinewaves such as test tones or movies that unload it..
