subsonic filtering.....

i wasn't sure which forum to post this.. so i posted it here in hopes of some advice...


anyhoos...

its kinda wierd to explain so ill just draw it out..

current sub setup:

computer soundcard subwoofer out -> low pass active crossover -> receiver with a dismal subsonic filter -> subs ported @ 32hz....


proposed setup:

computer soundcard subwoofer out -> high pass active crossover set @ 32 hz 12 db/slope -> low pass active crossover -> receiver with subsonic filter turned off -> sub ported @ 32hz...


to me the proposed setup seems fine but would there any disadvantages to it? ....
 
Doyou mean that your sound card sub out is feeding an out board xo or are you feeding sound card sub out stright to amp. Its a good idea to use subsonic filter on ported speakers to protect them when they unload below port tuning.
