Guys, don't get me wrong but from projects manager perspective this is how you should not be running GB's.

I can understand the frustration, but these GB's are carried out by people who do it during their spare time, and don't get anything in return except headaches and a logistical nightmare.
Had these been carried out by professionals and for profit, I would agree with your statement, but in this case, I tend to let things take the time they need, it's a DAC GB, not a pacemaker... I think we'll all survive the delay 🙂

Hi Subbu, Jean-Paul,

Received my PCBs and DAC chips last week, but I still have not received schematics or BOM for this design. I'm guessing that it's due to some snafu w/a wrong email address for me when I signed up for the GB. Any rate, would you please let me know how I can receive the docs for this DAC?

Thank you both for the design, and taking on this very large GB.

Dan

hi Subbu, Jean-Paul:

Could you please let me know how to get access to the BOM and schematics? I had sent you PM but I suspect you've got way more mail than you have time to answer.....

Dan

From a "person that was asked many many times for PCBs and that finally gave in" type of guys perspective: this GB was a very heavy task for Subbu and I am glad my task was actually only designing the thing and testing it. Also time consuming but at a safe distance from complaining consumers. Well, I try to compensate by replying here and there but lately it seems some of you want personal advice regarding this DAC. Hey, JP also needs to sleep and keep breathing !

I understand everyone involved wants one (1) good working DAC. We have to think of hundreds (100s) of DAC PCB's shipped to hundreds (100s) of people living in various places on the globe with varying skills and of course we like to see hundreds (100s) good working DACs. There are even people that never built anything SMD that try to make it work...

That being said, it is nice that many joined in but please have some patience for postal services, customs of your country etc. Give it till Christmas and if you haven't received it by then, then, then ... you will be having a new DAC in 2014 😉

It is a logistical nightmare plus getting parts etc. I seriously think our next project will be ready built as that seems way more easy for most except that we have to put money in it to start it up 🙂

If one of you whizz kids can make such a nice magic sheet again then you unfortunates that lack any of the needed stuff could fill in your name for missing PCB, BOM, schematic...Would be way easier for us to solve matters....It is just an idea, I have really no idea who is behind which moniker and where you live etc. Subbu is the guy that plowed through this pile of data and he sent out the boards. I think it could help him to track down matters that went wrong.

Adding Toslink is not hard I think. Since I never use it (as it is inferior to coax) I am a bit on thin ice but it could be done elegantly with a small PCB. I searched for mini PCBs for that purpose but can not find them on the web anymore. Just a small PCB with power/GND and output connections and some decoupling on a tiny PCB. Have them in front of me now 😉

Ah found another version:

Hi All

Sorry to be late, I've finally been delivered last week, Thursday.
French custom have added some delays to the process.
Today I've shipped 28 parcels, the GoogleDoc is updated.
I've added tracking number as a comment in the Status cell for those concerned.
I'll do my best to ship as soon as possible and keep you informed.

Regards

Phil
