AFAIK No BOM or schematic has been published. A BOM will be supplied by Subbu shortly to those that have purchased the PCB. Schematic, I don't know.
OK, cool. No problem AFAIK. I am not really in that much hurry...AFAIK No BOM or schematic has been published. A BOM will be supplied by Subbu shortly to those that have purchased the PCB. Schematic, I don't know.

I was puzzled because such a big deal was made when the final schematic for VSSA was not published, even though there are 3+ other versions of that which are perfectly usable for repairs, edification, and entertainment... so, I just naturally assumed someone could point me to some version in this thread or another, or a link I was not noticing.
I only look in on this thread now and then to see what has become of my PCB order... be back when things settle. 😀
YA, great things come from these group buys, not in the least is learning to be patient! It is a virtue after all 🙄

Minimum requirement for any GB would be complete schematic of the final pcb circuit. Otherwise, buyer can not judge if the circuit is what he really needs. The buyer must know in advance if the parts needed are available to him, as well as their price. If circuit designer wants to protect his IP he can publish the circuit without resistor and capacitor values but with proper marking of all semiconductors. Complete schematic must be furnished to all buyers after payment. This is diy forum. Therefore the knowledge and discussion is equally important as the product (pcb) itself. It must be understood that in GB circuit designer is in fact offering his circuit for evaluation by the possible buyers. As the buyer is risking that he shall at the end have product that will not satisfy him, so the designer must risk to offer his idea for free evaluation (presuming that he will possibly at the end have at least some finacial profit from his idea).
We must nothing. This is already the third version of a known concept that we promised because demand was high while the last version was sold out. The V2.6 was discussed in length. Many builders reported their builds and showed pictures and most details were described. Not a single comment was negative if I recall correctly. We promised to deliver a final slightly improved version if people themselves organized just one answer to us:"ÿes, we want 150 pieces of the V3 DAC PCB". Buyers know it is a very good DAC and will receive documentation when they order boards. It has no use to publish it here and get flak from the naysayers, hairsplitters and non buyers. This DAC is certainly no jump in unknown waters....AFAIK building costs were in the sheet when the GB started. If it wasn't a project I was involved in I would say that I rarely see a GB for such a good sounding well thought out device at that price level.
Please take care of the Bonsai buffer project you are involved in. I promised to stay out of that thread since you are determined on using old through hole parts because you think SMD is not suitable for DIY. This DAC is almost SMD-only so you won't build it anyway. If you try to get even or something like that, well .... be happy with it.
Your presumption about profit tells you don't have experience with group buys. We live and breathe our DAC design for more then a year now. If I count the hours I would have been better off buying a Metrum Octave !

Well said Jean-Paul.
Those interested in this project have almost certainly read the related threads where there is more than enough information to determine what is on offer and likely costs.

Good reply JP.
Hi JP thanks for jumping in.
Update on the GB: I expect to send the BOM/Schematics/PCB Silkscreen this weekend. Being a long weekend in US helps 🙂. I had multiple rounds of discussion with JP and finalized it. I know its took longer than I expected but there are always unexpected things that sneak in.
I hope to get the PCBs delivered to me in 10 days from now as we had to make some more corrections on the part identifiers and silk screen to make it really final. The shipping will start in about 15 days. I will publish a list around this weekend with all the paid members and also indicate whose PCBs are going to be shipped to Phil for assembly.
Regards,
Subbu

Is there a link for V2.6 that was discussed at length? If I am not able to use SMD parts there are people in my hometown that are soldering them each day in hundreds which could solder them for me. If there is some kind of description may be that I shall be interested in this GB too. In this thread I do not see it, that's all.

"Multiple rounds" is a correct description ! I will check the documentation again just to be sure. Let's get this over and done otherwise people might think their DAC will be ready when they retire 😀
Good job guys. Timing is perfect - summer winding down - fall means more woodshed time.
This is the first time and you are the only person on this website that has called our timing "perfect". Thank you for this sweet but well meant small lie 😉
Ladies (if there are any building our DAC) and gentlemen: take the time, build it safe and tidy and then enjoy the V3. Don't forget to show pictures and of course you should brag about it being a good DAC YOU made with your own hands ! Don't forget to breathe the smell of victory before it evaporates...
Tips:
- Use good quality lead-tin solder. I recommend Fluitin from Alpha (the Sn60Pb38Cu2 in 0.7 mm thickness is very good)
- solder in the morning with good lighting
- use an ESD strap or at least discharge by touching PE with both hands
- buy solder wick/desoldering braid to suck excessive solder
- Solder regs and their caps and test if they work before soldering WM8804/ES9023...Just put 5 V on the supply connector and measure 3 x 3.3 v and 1 x 3.6 V

Oh man.. Can not wait for some SoundImpressions from Users here... And also can not wait much more time for the I2S Version! 🙂 ...
Thumbsup and Thank you for your work!

Just when I was in a good mood that V3 SE SPDIF edition is ready you spoil it by using the I2S word 😉

We will (my wife as well) -thank you for all the effort!

We've got her ! The sole female Subbu DAC builder.
To promote the DAC building by women I will donate free SAL RPM caps if you leave your address via PM.

Hi Jean Paul,
I'm afraid I have to disappoint you - my wife does not solder - but she will enjoy the results of this GB! So unfortunately she's not the candidate you're looking for.
Please accept my apologies.

No apologies needed. Since I promised the caps you can have them. Let your wife judge your DAC then and report the results please.
So no female builders of the DAC...

Hi. I made the payment months ago and still no news. Did you order the PCB, when can we expect to receive it? Thanks...
My girlfriend can solder, she also knows car engines, can fix a computer makes a mean lasagna and can put a man in an arm bar in seconds... I don't always wear the trousers round here.
Jean paul - those vishay bc128 solid alu caps are nice as input caps on amps, have you had much success with them on this DAC?
