My sources are NOT at infinity - neither at the recording session nor when listening to the speakers.

That does not add to the capabilities of stereo :)

Stereo can only sample correct (horisontal) direction of a flat plane wave. If source is at the finite distance from the stereo mic and thus have a curvature wavefront, it will only produce a spatial error (ITD).

It is difficult to discuss with you if you are overly nitpicking in the first half of your sentence and really sloppy in the second half.
You may want to see a (small) error in the direction of the phantom image - admittedly. But we are not in surveying here ...
But even a curvature wavefront will not "ONLY produce a spatial error", but will produce directional and size cues with some SMALL spatial error. I can live with that - easily. :)

Cheers

Picture of an earlier Stereolith:

Looks very different than the current model.

Now dont put down a fine concept :nownow: The side firing from a single location is the createst audio innovation since Blumlein, and Ambisonics :)

What they should do, however, is to put all the marketing department people into the facilities, lock the door from outside and throw away the key :whip: :devilr:
