Squeezebox Touch PSU

Yes I did. Please let me organise things. Just today I picked up the last batch surplus Rcore transformers. It seems I have just enough of them for this GB. It seems demand for a good PSU is high as we did not think of the current number. I will prolong the closure date to tomorrow just to make it a nice round number 😉

Will send emails, just give me some time. With our DAC Subbu was the guy doing all this work and now it is my turn. I take back every thought of GB's being easy peasy.

Confirmation emails have been sent. Boards are being produced. I will give an update when the boards arrive. I will try to calculate the costs of each buyer (except USA/Canadian buyers) and send it in an email this weekend. I kindly request to pay the amount within a week. BOM and schematic will also be sent by email.

BTW the LS I started my email with raised some questions. It stands for Lectori Salutem and it means "greetings to the reader". It is Latin and it comes from the Romans, we use it here to address to unknown readers (like in the bulk mail I sent. I was not aware this is not standard in the rest of the world... Maybe not standard but still way better than no greeting at all 😉

Jim,

Check your email junk file. For some reason, Jean-Paul's email was considered junk and I had to dig to find it.

Jac

Sadly, no message in any of my account's spam folders - possibly because many ISP's have been rather arbitrarily blocked by my service provider.

Jean-paul: if you see this, please reply via my DIYAudio PM link, this always gets through.

<SIGH!> 'So many Nannies, and not enough State....'

OK we are waiting for the boards as the first batch had a small error. We decided on having them remade as we don't allow for such errors (those of you that made a V3 know that a slight silkscreen error may happen...). They should arrive at Subbu next week. I have a friend doing all the shipping calculations on an individual basis and it is finished. I will have to find the time next week to send the Paypal invitations. Subbu promised to send me a picture of the first boards. When I have it I will post it here. When he receives the new batch a quantity will be sent to me. Meanwhile many Rcore transformers can be observed in the wild at my place. Also quite some packaging material. In other words, things are finally starting. Schematics and BOM are there but a build manual would be nice but time is my enemy at the moment.

The prototypes are still running fine. Some members received prototypes (and they were satisfied with the quality) but no word from them yet in this thread.

Just curious. Are the first batch boards usable with minor modification? Do you guys have a bunch of first batch boards just hanging around doing nothing?

Since there is always a reason to add a good power supply in multiple place to a project, does it make sense to offer additional first batch boards at a discount?

What an appealing idea....

As long as the boards are functional, a felt-tip pen can liquidate a suspect silkscreen faster than I can say; "Die! Revanchist Menshevick..."

It's not that I'm cheap, so much as I frugal with extreme prejudice & regret seeing usable boards suffer for a mere labeling error.

Cheers

Jim

A picture of the board. At the right side you can see the added connector for current measurement. I will discuss selling the boards (that lack a trace) with Subbu. First the final boards will be distributed etc.

Understood completely.

To state the obvious, a missing trace can be replaced with a jumper. As you are more familiar with the circuit, you would have to judge any performance difference. I am guessing that many users would be happy with the jumper, as long as they know about it in advance. I have seen it done before, on other DIYAudio group buys.

Anyway, it's up to you and Subbu.
