Okay, I use the term veneer to describe the exterior finish on the wood and that is unrelated to the three types of bamboo ply, that's all.“veneer”.
Cal, the speakers in post #27 https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/spruce-wood-for-cabinet.411890/post-7665204 has ¼” “veneer”, the outer ply (aka “veneer”) in the bamboo is 3mm (and sold seperately .as veneer). Imagine 5 of those stacked in plywood fashion and glued together in a vacuum bad… i imagine really super plywood. And there isno reason hempstrands couldn’t be used similarily to create even stronger (and cheaper — hemp grows almost anywhere so it could be made locally) plywood. .

Okay, now I get the confusion. I looked closer at the smaller boxes.
The pics you show are not strand bamboo, they are vertical bamboo with a tiger strand veneer.
Real strand is made from 100% strands through and through, no veneer.
What you have is falsely identified as strand from unscrupulous marketers.
Apologies for the confusion.

Composite Bamboo ply is great stuff to build cabinets with. It ain’t exactly inexpensive though. I have a cutting board that has lived outside since 2007……still looks good and lies flat…..I can think of no better test than that. In all fairness, it’s on a Teak table……and the table looks a little better.

Can't say for sure by board looks like image 1 and 4...same segment layer style
Yes pics 1 and 4 are vertical and the second best. Pics 2 and 3 look to be horizontal and are considered the least desirable for this. Although it may be just fine, the other two are considered superior.

Let's not confuse things. Now the pics in post #49 appear to be duplicates. 1 is the same as 3 and 2 is the same as 4.
2 and 4 are the better board.

Regarding 2 and 4, don't you think this type has any voids?Let's not confuse things. Now the pics in post #49 appear to be duplicates. 1 is the same as 3 and 2 is the same as 4.

BTW, what is bamboo wood sound like as cabinet?
How it compare to the birch or MDF in terms of sound?

I doubt either orientation has voids. It will be stiffer than mdf. Are you building these yourself?

If well engineered box, nothing from the box. Except for the affects of external shape on the diffraction signature, and any issues from the internal shape. Thise can be minimized but never eliminated.

FWIW, I had to replace a section of countertop in my kitchen last year, so I took my wife to the local hardwood store to look at the bamboo countertop slabs they had in stock. They happily opened up a bunch of them, and every single one had checking and splitting that made them unusable. I'm not sold on the long term stability of those bamboo products. With the price of Baltic Birch going through the roof, I don't know what I'd use for a box anymore.

No. I know a very good cabinet maker in my area but he never build anything with bamboo in the past.I doubt either orientation has voids. It will be stiffer than mdf. Are you building these yourself?
