Re: "Split" fresnel goodness.......
No,
For the fresnel you see how his enclosure is...and lcd panels are 4:3. But the thing is fresnels' are like around 12" x 12" so does that mean he cutted the fresnel a little in order to make it fit?

yes echow87 i cut the fresnels 12"x9.25" to fit them inside the encloser so no light escapes

Theres a bulb on ebay right now for only around $10 right now and theres only 9~ hours left.
Just search for Elmo solar deluxe
that bulb is the one of three I kept for myself. Just want to see how much I can get off eBay. Unfortunately it is not going very well. There is one more day left. I hope the price will rise above what I paid for it 🙁
should of set a reserve...
well my auction is going bad too... if no one bids at least the same prices i paid i will cancel it.

split fresnel brightness???
Back on Topic...
I have touted that split fresnel gives more brightness. As I have not tried this myself and I do not see that any of you have listed that as benefit, I now ask you to confirm or deny. I have read in this thread that the light is more even and that no rings are evident, but nothing about more brightness.
Confirm or deny!
Overall, did any one trying the split fresnel method get more brightness on the screen? If so, how much more?

Re: split fresnel brightness???
but 1 thing i did find out is that using a convex/concave condensor
lens gives a brighter image than using a plano/convex lens does
i cant realy say it gives "more light" but it does spread the light more evenly and giving the effect that its brighter overall so yes i would have to confirm it is brighterMavmesa said:Back on Topic...

Hello Everyone,
I have successfully split my fresnel lens. My question to the forum is how do you get the bow out of the lens when it is split? Are people pressing the lenses against a piece of glass? Does it matter if the lens is bowed in the center? I am so anxious about getting my projector finished! It has been a LONG time coming, so I cant wait to finish. Thank you all for your posts, and original ideas. This has become an obsessive hobby, and I am sure a lot of you can relate.
Thank you and keep up the great work,
Steve

i sandwitched the front fresnel between 2 pieces of glass
works like a charm
Well i thought i might throw this in here just to help clear a few things up, i got my infocus lp220 today and ive hacked at it already, cleaned it and re asymbled it, it turns out it uses 2 frensel just like some of us have been using, the front frensel is the same distance to the lcd then the back one and the grouves of the front one face the lcd, i didnt get to take a look at the back one to see wich way the groves are but it obviously states that we are on the right track with this split frensel design, if the pro's are doing or did it and we are now too i say we are moving forward men in our developments and i think if we keep at this frensel idea and working to master the focals we cant do anything else but gain, good work guys!
