hehe,
I suddenly got this crazy idea when You mentioned the olive..
a giant martini cocktail glass with the woofer on a cocktailstick in the glass..
would be nice in a lounge bar...
i will have to paint it green then...

finished, sort of...
OK, since the paintjob has been totally screwed up because of the cold weather over here i decided to assemble the woofer and wait for better temperatures to repaint it..
but it is looking kind of cool as it is..
the feet are a succes, unfortunately i was unable to make pictures of the casting...
in the summer I'll have to disassemble it to sand it all down and repaint it.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

That looks very cool! Congrats.
Cold weather blows doesn't it?! It screws me up in the shop as well.

I'm no audiophile, but i like the way it sounds..
no idea yet how hard it goes
it's going fairly deep, but i need to do some measurements some day..
yea, the cold really pissed me off, I should have known..
after the 3th layer of paint it started crackling..
I sanded it down, and the I discoverd that the primer released from the polyster...

The spheres look fantastic.
But I hate the feet. I would go for something like a circular base plate same diameter, with a cylindrical support of 1/2 diameter.
or replace the spikes with 3 small spheres.
just my 2cents.

Just goes to show that you cannot please everybody. MrSesnitive, If you decide to change the feet I'd love to have your brass cones for my new SET amp in my avatar. I haven't been able to find any large solid brass stock yet to turn conical footers from.
Don't worry about what Jimbo thinks. He probably doesn't like cowboy boots either. 😀 His suggestion of small spheres would make your speaker look like a snowman.

hehe, I don't mind some critisism.. but small sphere's instead of cones... i don't think so... somehow i started thinking about pokemon??
the floor will be fine,
i placed some coins under there.
this was only for taking pictures..
Yesterday I watched the Fifth element.. man, i'm very happy with ther level of bass.. (then again.. i don't have much references to compare with.. it's my first sub.)

The enclosure looks great! It looks kind of like a large version of the Gallo spherical speakers, the smaller ones of which are mounted by seating them in (thick) rubber O-rings.
actually, I built the sub to complement my Orb's..
www.orbaudio.com
they are cheaper then Gallo's, and look just the same. apparently Orbaudio was founded by some ex-employees of Gallo..
ths design of the sub itself (the feet etc..) was more inspired by Ferguson Hill bass stations..
