Checked out three of the Klipsch models last year and they all had that superb horn sound in the mid to high ranges. But the killer was the bass response. You could not distinguish timbre on bass instruments -- a double bass sounded just like a bass clarinet. On one of their websites, the popular adage was "Klipsch is not known for bass response." If you look at their design, they require a high-efficiency woofer to match the horns and this doesn't promote timbral accuracy.
Well based on the review linked below, there really isn't much output at 42Hz. 😉What about the Klipsh Heresy IV? They have 99dB sensitivity at 8ohm with 42Hz.
Scroll down about 2/3 for the subjective evaluation. https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/klipsch-heresy-iv-speaker-review.17853/

Thanks for the info. Since I know nothing about speakers and they are my first pair, I don't think I can go wrong with the Linton 85th Supers. I'm sure I can sell them if I don't like them, but I suspect they will be great. So many options to choose from.
Is there anywhere locally you can audition them?I don't think I can go wrong with the Linton 85th Supers.
Some good, some not so good. 😉So many options to choose from.

Isn't Klipsch notoriously overzealous with the sensitivity rating? What about the Klipsh Heresy IV? They have 99dB sensitivity
@vinylkid58 unfortunately not. I would need to have some shipped from Montreal, but I'm waiting on the Canadian rep to get back to me. I would need to bring my F5m amp to test listen, and I'm still building it. My ear is not refined enough to tell if they sound good or not compared to others, so I would just nod and smile. I also found out the room size and speaker placement can make or break the sound so I would not know until I get them home. ( eg. close or far from wall for rear port ). Then there is the 'break in period'. I need decent bass without an extra sub-box preferably since I'm using these for analog synths as well. The Linton Super goes down to 32Hz 'in room' so that sounds good to me.
@HeadShake, that is the highest sensitivity I've come across.

Yes, typicaly at last 3dB, also typiclly have an. “ugly” impedance response.

The Wharfedale SUPER Linton with stand are on sale here ( launch promo ) so I guess I'll pull the trigger on a pair.
I get the Wharfedale SUPER Lintons for $2500USD+TX with stands, free shipping, and 'Japan' 10ft speaker cable for each.
Here's a tip: Get this 2-gauge welding cable from Amazon (got to be finely stranded):
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M35SPAU?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title
and crimp these on each end:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073CN5ZN1?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title
Use them for your amp/speaker cable and listen as all cable sound disappears. All that's left is the music.
The huge gauge is necessary for improving damping and impedance, not frequency. These make a huge difference in audio quality.
Oh....
and....
they generate great controversy on web sites (LOL).
But to avoid some of that, here is a source that allows you to compute the actual values:

And since this is a DIY site, have some fun nerds!

You just remove the screw, slip on the terminal, then tighten back up. If your speaker doesn't allow you to fully unscrew the nut, check out some open-ended 2awg 3/8" terminals on Amazon.
As always, BTW, regardless of the cable you use, make sure it doesn't touch the floor. This will cause noise.
Home Depot makes inexpensive Rebar such as these available:
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Grip-Rite-3-in-PROLOK-Rebar-and-Mesh-Chair-GRPROLK43B/204768996
Costs very little and the wire runs through the top. This is a lifetime supply (maybe several).
Do This, robo man! It will make a significant difference.
Now you can buy audiophile products that hold speaker cable up -- for about $150 each. But the choice is yours...

Those Warfedale's are very good speakers, just like the old ones were (and still are). It's a way better option than Tekton or Kiplisch.
I bought Double Impacts (used) for two reasons:Tekton seems to take the "throw the kitchen sink" approach to design. The measurements are not good. Everyone has their 2cents. I just don't get the 10 tweeter idea. One tweeter and a nice crossover has little interference.
1 - I really wanted to hear the tweeter array
2 - it was going to cost me about the same amount to make them myself.
I'd still own them if I had the space. They were awesome.
It's possible that the guy is kind of mean/weird/defensive and also makes killer speakers.
I measured them outside because the internet was constantly telling me how bad Tektons measure.
To the OP, I'd absolutely consider Tekton (only models with the tweeter array). Look on the used market, they pop up. I didn't read every word of this thread, if you have impedance issues (tubes), just know the real minimum impedances dip lower than you might expect. My 4 ohm Double Impacts dipped to 2.3ohm for example. The Perfect SET models are intended for tube amps.

People who own and listen to Tekton speakers almost always praise them. Others have various reasons for discounting the brand. Right at the Linton price point Tekton has a new smaller DI version with the tweeter array.
Using the negative review of the small Lore to generalize that Tekton speakers measure poor is inaccurate
Your graphs show what I hear every day: they sound splendid and have full range response.
Why people care about the owner's personality is also suspect. Forget Eric -- it's his speakers that are the subject matter. Does anyone know or care who runs Wharfedale?

Do you think there could be an issue running the Super Linton with an F5m? I thought the specs were ok but I don't know enought to be certain.
Since I don't know enough about speakers yet, and need to make a purchase, I need to lean towards a safer bet so the Super Linton are my pick so far.
Some reasons I went against Tekton as my first set of speakers: I could not find a response from Tekton to the resonance issue brought up in that youtube video. I emailed them asking which of their speakers would be the best match for the F5m and its specs, and I received back a 1 line answer telling me the 2 speakers I had mentioned in my email were the best choice. ( Lore ) No other specs/details/speakers were mentioned or suggested, and I was left feeling uninformed about a purchase. There are many design styles which makes it seem like the design is taking second place to giving customers what they want, covering all marketing bases. The business is a one-man-show, so if Eric gets mad at me, it's over. The tweeter array looks great but I don't know enough about speakers to buy them without hearing them first. I"m in canada so shipping and duties are at communist levels. If there is an issue, I can't easily return them. Selling them may not be as easy as selling Super Lintons. For those reasons, I'm out.

I don't think this is a good result at ll, this is smoothed and still full of resonance peaks. This is what i call a good measurement, price is similar of the double impact's (for a pair).I bought Double Impacts (used) for two reasons:

Can you post a decay graph with: 30ms slice, 5ms window, 5ms rise, and 1/6th rounding? The 0 degree.I measured them outside because the internet was constantly telling me how bad Tektons measure.

thanks for the advice everyone. i ordered a pair of super lintons in walnut. i hope the measurement charts look good for those.
