Soundstream responded with a not allowed to have the schematic? So I need to find the value of the resistor. I used a 1.5k that what the burnt one read.
I don't understand SS. Plenty of people have got diagrams from them. I think it depends on who you talk to.

The large 3 diodes likely connect between the B+ and ground terminals. Does the resistor parallel the diodes?
On the power acoustik a3000db diagram and the kx1-5500 diagram (you have both), there is a 1k 1w resistor across the B+ and ground but you cannot burn a 1k resistor like that with the voltage that feeds the amp. A 1/4w 1k resistor can withstand 12v with no problem.
Well I got soundstream to tell me basically what you already did the value of the resistor R8 is 1k 1watt.
All of that noise probably means that there is reference problem with the scope. Can you set your scope up as shown in section 8 on the tech tips 8 page?
