Not a good idea, Bob, some might throw up in their breakfast cereal 😀 ...
All my efforts are works in progress, there is no "show off" piece - bits of detritus from the previous round are still lying around ... . If you look at some of the images of those experimenters brave enough to post, you'll get the general idea. The speakers are positioned wherever it's convenient to put them, the only consideration is to stabilise them physically as much as possible.
The last setup I had that presented nicely was about 30 years ago, when I assembled all the bits in the "correct", socially acceptable manner - then I made some "discoveries", and things degenerated, visually, from then on ... 🙂
If some people want to 'learn', 😛, what I say is all-important, that's where the "secrets" are ...

Actually thats a friends triple stacked Quads , i only have some pics of the beta version I'm working on , will post up the finished larger speaker when done ...

Frank and Wayne, do you guys share pictures of your audio room and audio rig between yourselves?
You know...just to add another perspective to your expertise and scientific/technical audio talk exchanges.
And by the same token, us, the other readers and contributors (dvv included, of course) could also benefit perhaps? 🙂
If memory serves, Wayne did post some pictures a while ago. Frank hasn't, but I hope that's really hasn't yet.
That aside, while the discussion does occasionally become very heated, no blood has been spilled yet. 😀 😀 😀

That picture is upside down?
Not a good idea, Bob, some might throw up in their breakfast cereal 😀 ...
I just had a bowl of cereals about fifteen minutes ago or so; talk about a coincidence!

Back then, thirty years ago, did you take any pictures Frank?
Nope, not a pic'y man, haven't been for a long time - I had my fling eons ago, in the era of (gasp!!) DIY analogue photography - you know, enlargers, chemicals, stumbling around in the dark, 🙂.Back then, thirty years ago, did you take any pictures Frank?
I have a dream - that I'm not being constantly irritated by pests ... 😀

So go to your local supermarket and buy some inseticticide. 😀 😀 😀
Make sure it works into low impedances as well. 😀
He can , after he builds that 1 ohm drive capable chipamp and superclean of all artifacts small speaker .... 🙄
Now where's that Sim D ....
Now where's that Sim D ....

Not listening, dear fellow, the 'super amp' I'm fooling with is all discrete - I'm aiming for extremely low distortion when the amp is running at very high stress levels, and it would require just as much engineering to make it happen with chip amps.
Not easy, the output stage is where the real action is, big currents flowing causes a lot of simple solutions to come undone ...

It would be interesting to see some current gear, maybe it's already been shared a few pages back?
I am genuinely curious as to what do you guys listen to while dreaming up these grandious schemes?

In my case I've followed a rather bizarre course, by the standards of most in the audio game - whereas most try to acquire or build ever 'better' gear, I've gone in the complete opposite direction, seemingly going just a bit more downmarket each time. Essentially, I've trying to understand what truly counts in achieving satisfying audio playback, what are the lower limits, so of late I've been doing experiments with extremely ordinary, mid- or even lo-fi gear, to see what can be "salvaged" from that very low, or even hopeless 😀, base.
The last "proper" system was a modest Philips HT all-in-one receiver, which was going to chucked out by a family member, it was heavily tweaked to conjure up pretty decent standards of sound. Unfortunately, this was run at close to maximum volumes most of the time, and cooked, wore out one of the chip amps. Fixable, but I'm lazy ... 😉
Also used a Aldi TV and Blu-ray player combo, limited by the internal PS, and speakers rattling the TV frame. Last rounds were with a desktop PC, and simple, self-powered plastic monitors.
So what has this to do with an ambitious power amp? In essence, learning what matters, and what doesn't, in getting decent sound, as well as impressive technical performance out of some gear. Horses for courses, this is now about a scenario needing raw horsepower, as a primary requirement; start with a rough 'brute' that will do the grunt thing, then refine it so that this "strength" is delivered gracefully, with all the quality aspects fully realised.

Dreaming ..lol ... 🙂

No good to stress an amp, any amp, all amps.

Ha! The other side of the dark moon.

Too bloody right, Bob!! That's the sort of thing I started noticing 30 years ago, and it always bugs me - hearing the amplifier hitting the bump stops, not of the voltage rails, but of the ability to keep distortion levels under control - what some people call 'compression', say ...No good to stress an amp, any amp, all amps....Stresses the music listener too.![]()
