We had an alarm system in a 1998 Subaru with a key fob. Rarely used it but if the battery died you had to have the fob to kill the alarm.
Alarm also disabled the engine.
So if you were out somewhere and replaced the battery or had it die, without a working fob you were somewhat out of luck.

The car developed an electrical problem with the ECU at random times and I decided to let that car go. Had an automatic that ate most of the engine's life force.

There are two kinds of veneer peeling machines.
One type is like giant lathe that "shaves off" an endless sheet of wood.
Wood peeling machine

The other type is, I guess the type you expected to see. A piece of wood is repeatadly (ow to spell that?) run over a long blade shaving off pieces of veneer.

I've seen both types in action, but the second version was a vertical working modell. Seeing the log lifted up and down was impressing.
