had their Greek, Turkish, Yugoslav clubs.
Rhis reminds me of an anecdotyy es from back in rhe early nineties.
I was back in basel from a lengthy trip and didn’t know where to go to have an affordable but rasty dinner.
So I entered a Kurdish club (kebab and the like were often really tasty then!), and every, really every head turned towards me. I considered myself lucky to not understand their comments. Ordered something I do not remember (but it was very tasty!), had a seat at the back waiting.

Then the phone rang.
Every one (they were all men), really EVERY one vehemently waved his hands and said (in kurdish): „I'M NOT HERE!“

unforgettable.
