Yup.

Rule 2: Discussions of politics, ethnicity, religion, medical or other divisive issues of any sort.

But this is clearly not a hard and fast rule - tubes vs transistors comes to mind as does people talking about their medical conditions as they age.
The thread about what food you like that would be disgusting to other cultures touches on ethnicity.
Just saying. No disrespect meant to anyone - just an observation.
I can understand that, particularly since religion and politics are highly-volitile subject areas, moreso in today's world.
However, in conversations of other subjects, it's sometimes difficult or even impossible to get a thorough meaning or understanding of something across if it borders on or requires those controversial subjects to get the full meaning across.

I regard it to be a form of censoring to deter potential outbreaks of violent content.

If you want to convince yourself your intelligence is getting less, write a computer program, wait a year and then try to understand it. No matter how many comments you used, chances are you won't understand your own code anymore.
Yes, well, that's what comments are for. Though, in my experience there's always a certain element of "WTF was I thinking when I did that" in returning to any program regardless of how well commented. It's odd sometimes how a break from something can bring clarity...
