What you guys think about this voltage regulator? The schematic I got is a little crappy but that all I can get from this website below. Do you think its worth a try to build it?

I'm thinking of building the super regulator to replace those normal LM78 & 79 in my CPD. Now, I have to open up the hood to see if there is enough space to fit in the boards.
Have you seen other circuits in his website? Does the bridge rectifier make significant different for an amplifier?

This is an option for two types of parts, SO08 or DIL08 opamps and TO126 or TO220 transistors. I normally try to have more than one alternative especially when it comes to essential parts like semiconductors.... so only one type at the time 🙂ilimzn said:

If you plan to use a 40-50 MHz opamp like AD825, the physical pcb layout is quite important in order to get a stable and a good performance. Small dimensions is good here.
My notebook HDD just crashed and those schematic I downloaded is gone! Will take some time off to fix the HDD problem...
Just stumbled over this old thread when I checked my statistics, fossil is your HDD alive now and did you tweak your CDP anything?
HDD can't be fixed..all info gone. I have not started anything yet but recently when I pop up my Naim power amp, I saw they are using LM317 regulating 24V for the pre amp..now it makes my imagination wild again..to maybe try putting this into it to replace the LM317..

Multicomp LEDs are not available in the USA without 20$ order fee from Farnell... I found similar LED HLMP-1503-D0000 with 10mA current and 2.1V forward voltage. Is the replacement acceptable?
