It's not simple to belive, that Zen V4 and Bride of Zen sound better that my Rotel RA970 or friends Unison Research Simply Two (also single ended with on EL34 per chanel). The sound stage is enormousness big when listen Harry's Belafonte At Carrnegie Hall.
I have one question. In my opinion Bride of Zen invert the phase of the signal, but Penultimate Zen V4. does not. To adjust the absolute phase I reverse the cables on Zen V4 output. Is this correct ?
best regards,
Leon

Both BOZ and ZV4 invert the phase .
The results are that the + of the speaker must be connected at the output of the capacitor onZV4 and not to ground.

I don't know what version of Eagel is out there, I user a v4.03
There are lots and lots of different libs including large caps of 35 mm diameter (That's the one I have used)
It's in the lib : rcl under C pol EU
Good luck

Hi !
For all who want to build Zen V4 or Bride of Zen with my PCB layout, I'll send zip file on this board. PCB are error free and works fine. For any question please send me email on kirc@email.si
First file is Penultimate ZEN PCB layout.

kirc, how did you mount the FETs in your Zen4? Close to the PCBs or away from them with wire as shown on the burn in-picture ?

Well done, Leon.
Your boards are quite well designed!
I think you are very kind to share your efforts with the whole DIY comunity!

There are two way to mount fets. In my case I use wire (see pictures on top), but it's possible to mount it on board and then on heatsink.

LEON
Final version (in case) of ZEN V4, (pictures will come soon), the fets are aprox. 10cm away from main PCB.

Kirc,
What are all those long traces in parallel for on BOZ board?
can't wait to see your finished product after seeing these
nice boards!

Thanks

Those long traces are for input selector. I use these traces instead of wire 🙂 Cut it off and enjoy 🙂
CONFUSED
hello Kirc,
sorry for disturbing, but there is aproblem with my(yours pcb for zen v4) pcb. I mark drill holes where will be, all is ok, except when i carefuly looked to yours pictures(all) i saw that last, done pcb(cooper side) is invert.
OF COURSE i CAN INVERT THE COOPER SIDE IMAGE(reverse, and also upside down) then all holes in componenets side come together pcb cooper side holes.
THIS IS WILL BE SOME PROBLEMS WHEN i WILL HAVE REVIRE TRANSISTORS..
MAYBE i MAKE MISTAKE- SOME YOURS PICTURES i ACCEPT LIKE LAYOUT COMPONENETS SIDE, AND IN REAL IT WAS COOPER SIDE, BUT WHICH? THIS PICTURE WITH BLACK MARKS-CAPASITORS,REZISTORS PLACES SHOWING IS DETAILS LAIYOUT SIDE, ALSO TWO PCB(NOT DONE YET) IN ONE PIC IS COOPER SIDE. i AM CONFUSE A LITTLE. THIS IS MY FIRST diy, i WOULD BE VERY THANKFULL FOR ADVICE..

After finding this old thread a few days ago, I couldnt resist etching a couple of boards🙂 Here is the result. Quite a foottapping excperience😉 It sounds delicious🙂 I only had to twist the legs of the input transistor a bit! The layout is obviously for a irf610, I guess. I used the zvp3310! This must be the easiest and cheapest way to get a very well sounding amp😀
