Dont you love DIY excess. I cant remember what I have now. Got a wonderful EI, but it is 230AC, duh. I could always just run a line. What VA is extravagant for duals? Also, I have read that EI is better for pre stuff, with doughnuts being best for power amps. Opinion?
DCA55 say SK117GR faulty component🙂
Q5 KSA1381 also faulty component😡now is working OK again😉
New parts in new reg or they just failed for no apparent reason in a working one?
@ Buzz
drek with less bandwidth better for low level stages ( less junk to kill means less work for filter/reg)
drek with better intrinsic power regulation better for high level/power stages
V x A still means W , at least in my neck o' wood
use 800VA for 10 stereo 6V6 preamps
or for one , if you want me laughing next year

EI have bobbins for each coil when toroid has them one upon another so it shows more capacitance. Because toroid is the more efficient and lighter per VA its best home is power amp.
200mA HV secondary for 6V6 pre duals is royally plenty. Then its whatever the rectifier heater and 6V6 heater has to draw. 100VA total should be much relaxed and plenty to do its stuff.

Was the reg used in the Itch, just failed for no apparent reason😕
P.S. Maybe a very small sink on each BJT will make it more secure for left ON long in summer?
Heat? Summer came and ambient in box temp rather high?
Can be but I'm not sure, the box is big & well ventilated.

I will mount to avoid the heat, thanks.
It could be just local heat to the BJT or sometimes small semis just fail, but do help the small transistor, does no harm. Only watch the minisink not to make contact with anything else.
Also know that the Zener protecting the JFET is good so it is not that one that failed at some power on and left the Vref unprotected to power on transients until there was a fail. Just imagining scenarios.
Ime kathigitis= I am a professor.🙂
Yes. Inuit language and greek is closely related. "I drink Metaxa" and "I am a professor" means the same thing
