How critical is the value of C2 10uF, what happen with the sound if I increase or decrease the capacitance value and what are the limits min. & max. capacitance?
It increases or decreases the noise filtering of the Vref. Mainly how deep in the low bass it filters. Less uF may sound thinner or simply quicker depending on system synergy. I kept it at 10uF max not to delay too long charging up to Vout level because that increases Vin-Vout during start up and may stress other components, mainly Q1. The higher the Vout setting for same uF C2 the longer it takes charging.
Thanks Salas, what's the min. value?
When you say filter low bass mind weak the bass or the bass is still present and clearly you listen better the bass notes?

-More reg ref noise in the bass for less uF. Noise in the bass mainly decreases notes distinction clarity.
-2.2uF minimum to still have enough noise filtering in the low mids and up.

Why there is this big difference in SQ using different brand of capacitors? filtering? kind of capacitor: inductive vs non inductive, etc?
Hi All
PLS forgive me for my basic questions, could not answer my self looking in the docs while considering best sound as target.:
-How many SSHV2 is recommended in a phono amplifier? Schematic: https://philipsag9015.home.blog/level-4-build-up-new-riaa/#jp-carousel-1215
-I am considering 1+1 per channel for the ECC83. Or is every tube requiring such?
-Or should separation between the two SSHV2 for first tube and second tube?
-Do I need a capacitor after the SSHV2? Maybe with an RC 330ohm/10uF as in Stephanies example
(link: https://www.rintelen.ch/konzept_und_text/download.php?file2download=lr_no_c_rev_3.0.pdf ).
-The ECC82 has a current source in the bottom with its pair, so here likely no need for SSHV2. Or? One common SSHV2?
-I am considering as an alternative Stephanies voltage regulator. Why is SSHV2 better? Beyond the CCS I mean.
-SSHV2 is having a current limiter in the top. If this is replaced with simple R (tube rectifier RC power supply...)

Hi,
-For more quality you can use two 300V regs, one per channel. Makes a dual mono arrangement. Calculate an RC to drop 30-40V for the earlier stages. It filters noise too.
-Don't know about Stephanie's subjectively. Its a minimalistic series reg. Might be adequate. Shunt works on a different principle.
-Don't replace the CCS by a simple R.

Salas to fuse the PSU powering the SSHV2 have I to use just the next higher value of power consumption load+SSHV2, for example if load draws 80mA + SSHV2 20mA have I to fuse 125mA right?
So, fast type. Better 150mA to be sufficient for initial transient? Has a bit of trial and error this process of choosing just the right one. To break when really needed but not to break on no real danger.
