... the vast majority of the (at least 10) configurations of this project will not be reliant on unobtanium. 😀
That is wonderful news.
In keeping with the "unobtanium" theme would gold foil in unicorn oil be suitable for the output caps ? And anyone know a reliable Chinese source for them ?
Woody, I don't know about gold foil, but Silbatone and Kondo Audionote do make silver foil capacitors. You need to specify capacitance value and oil type you prefer. Probably your quality oil selection will never be more than garlic or chili oil should you choose a chinese made capacitor. But if you really want to go for the very best, our factory in Java can make Multi layer American cheddar sandwich fried in Palm oil served in aluminum foil wrapping, excellent food capacitor to satisfy most demanding hungry audiophiles.

Small improvement (maybe)
IMO, the first V-FET round was orchestrated very well from the people behind diyaudiostore: Interest sign up approach, due time email notifications, ordering time slots, super clear and prompt communication with Elena (from the store) etc.
For more people to notice, maybe the sign up link for the raffle (or whatever the approach will be) could be advertised a bit more this time. Temporary sticky thread at the Pass forum or something else.
@Mr. Pass, thanks for clarifying about the releases

I think it is only a futile try..... otherwise he would not write.....
my Papa is smarter than your Nelson !

Assuming this would pop-up in the store sometime soon ?? 😉😉
There will be two main releases. First release, any minute now, is 90 amplifiers using
the P channel VFET. This release is complete kits including chassis, far as I know.
Ah, how minutes “fly” for us mere mortals. 😀
There's going to be plenty of announcement before the fact. Don't stress out waiting.
"Any minute now" is probably accurate if measured in Mercurian minutes. Hopefully not Venusian...

Since we have plenty of time and there’s gonna be a big announcement and paying attention to the few ‘leak’ threads is not going to hand us any golden tickets...have you got any more unseen, double secret, leaked vfet porn for us?
Here's one of the optional front end cards, going through qualification experiments in a test jig (NOT an amplifier). You'll notice that the Channel-1 details (yellow box, bottom left) says AC coupled, no bandwidth limiting, no averaging.

Practically, all information is available here, before our “wide shut” eyes. Output stage schema is known and confirmed by Nelson here:

Input VAS module with transformer will be similar to the one for the Sony VFET first iteration (JFET buffer + transformer).
For the other input modules (not exactly the same but close), look at M2X thread beginning and especially at this:
https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/pass-labs/321925-diyaudio-watt-m2x-341.html#post6316096
I will eat my hat if amplifier will not be in general like this:
External SMPS power supply 24 V, eventually up to 30V
Bias 1.75 to 2 A
Output power close to 8 W, both to 4 or 8 ohms (limited by voltage or current respectively)
What I find very interesting is that 10 iterations of this design are planned using ordinary mosfets or even BJTs, some for sure with high output power. There must be something very good in this design that is not yet disclosed.
