Somebody posted that on the web, pink Himalayan sea salt, old as creation and had an expiration date!
It's the same with water bottles. It's not the water/salt that expires. It's the plastic container that degrades
On the other hand, when it comes to solder, I would worry more about all those modern highly active fluxes that could degrade in unexpected ways. Which is why most people still suggest the old rosin core. Especially for people that don't clean flux residue

You got to watch MUNDORF for newest high fidelity additives, once a simple coil winding factory, that over the years has developed into a high end, voodoo selling snake oil specialist. Their solder contains not only silver, but even real GOLD. Well, it is only 0.1%, but this amount, worth only a few $ will skyrocket the price of the solder. 100 grams of Solder contain 7$ worth of gold and 9$ silver. That makes the retail price a solid 110$. A very good conventionel 60/40 is about 10$ for the same amount. So add 16 $ precious metal and get 84$ more. Good deal. Next additive should be platinum...
Mundorf puts expensive metall in any "Supreme" product they do and swear it will give incredible sound improvements over their base line. They sponsor influencer with huge amounts of "samples", which gives very positive reviews in return. Hardly any publication in Germany uses Mundorf in their builds, just like you find advertising inside.
Mixing in some expensive miracle substance and thus increasing credibility and value is a very old concept. Today, at some restaurants they even cover your steak or mix ice cream with real gold. I'm not sure it improves the taste. Well that is in some oil rich desert regions, ok. Anyway, the idea is the same.
If I see something improved in such voodooistic ways, I get very suspicious. There is the problem that silver is in fact a very good conductor. So the wealthy, but uneducated consumer might think if silver is good, gold must be even better. With gold we have the issue of it being corrosion resistant, what makes it usefull in some instances. Such physical truth is the soil on which voodoo flowers grow.

Wait till you see V-cap with the power of copper. I love teflon caps, but damn this is a completely new level of people having too much moneyYou got to watch MUNDORF for newest high fidelity additives
That’s an interesting statement, I wonder where you read that? Wire mfr web or article? I use silver plated copper stranded wire with Teflon insulation and tin plated ul1332 that has Teflon insulation too, I do not notice any difference soldering it.the most common being good teflon wire, (where the copper needs to be silver plated to resist something in the teflon)
It may have been mentioned, but I don't recall, I am using Kester solder w/ Rosin. Is it still best practice to use paste Flux as well?
I have found one lb rolls of Kester, Alpha, etc at old man yard sales for 1 or 2 dollars max. No one wants it.
Maybe I should ask since I didn't get it right with my board. I have made a 'through out' for the rear of my Iron pre. I thought that I had it right, but just so I know where on the board would be the proper place for this connection? It wouldn't be the output. I figured that the connection that goes to the volume control (not after but before) would be the right place.
I mean to say that all input signals are available to this 'output' without any interaction with the preamp. For example, I have a separate headphone amp that would use this through output so that it only has a connection with the source. This would not be the case with the other 2 outputs that I am using.
HOLY CRAP! I MEANT TO POST THIS AT THE IRON PRE BOARD. SORRY.

wherever
just take signal from pot pads; GND and CW and route them to RCAs
that's Post-Selector
NB that Unenergized JFet stages are often acting as load/signal eaters, so in purpose you're explaining - Iron Pre either must be ON, or Vol Pot must be all the way CCW, so JFet gates shut to GND and signal routes isolated from said gates by value of pot itself

Depends on the fabrication process. For some the temperature of adding the teflon insulation is too high for tin so they silver plate the wire. That’s an interesting statement, I wonder where you read that? Wire mfr web or article? Kester is the first name that comes to mind for quality solder but I use for everything AIM solder with 2% silver (Sn62/Pb36/Ag2). Half the price compared to Kester and great quality.

I took a mental note to check AIM products for my next order before realizing that the fresh pound spool on my bench would likely last until through hole components are history and the drink of choice will undoubtedly be Brawndo... hey, its got electrolytes.
