I think the time has come we have to show our fun loudspeakers or outdoor ones.
Here my contribution (outdoor fun speaker) :
Cheapo drivers with diy aluminium sandwich cones. (there is a thread on it here on diy audio forum).
DIY whizzer cone and extra bass with 1mh inductivity forming a one and a half way system (=fullrange with added bass).
Cheapo TDA7498 amp with 34 Volt smps power supply. And whuzi audio preamp Bluetooth
with certainly only fake parts. But works.
Simple EQ with smartphone app.
Drivers were only 10 dollars but decent quality if you know how to use it.

Ah, the box is inside with 1.5cm concrete, this is not cheapo technically. Can't stand boxes emanating sound of their own
Bass reflex is really low tuned like 25hz. With the high q drivers it works because the box is big enough (approx. 75Liters)
Jimi Hendrix!
Peerless SDS160 and Vifa BC25TG, very home made cabinets but nice balanced sound, a little lacking in bass as the SDS need a much larger cabinet to get down past about 50Hz:

Really nice. Like to remember Hendrix.
But also I am in love with Janis Joplin. Saw a concert with her on the web.
Such a talent. Unbelievable.

Also did a pair with Bach and Charlie Christian, but the finish went funny so I painted them.

these are semi-outside in the pool house, lots of fun for the whole family.

Idea for listening on potent fun-speaker: Its the tune Tesla used for model X easteregg.
@Freedom666 Watch the movie "The Rose" with Bet Midler about Janis Joblin if you haven't
Cheers!
Cheers!

This one is biiig!
I enjoy having built large standing speakers. Goes deep without doing lots of EQ

These are outdoor'ish / small event speakers that work surprisingly well indoors..
Venerable Danley SH-50 alikes..
Setting up up with measuring mic at 1m and absorbent material around.
When I get them outside to test (for a wedding), I'll take some more pics.
Will probably load another 12" driver and two more 5"ers on for that.

I have been chasing the Danley phase coherent thing, not using XOs as they introduce huge phase shifts, but PEQs to shape the hi pass on the LF, the band pass on the MF and a little on the HF (that has a 1st orderhi-pass only).EQed must be awesome dynamics...
The LF and MF do play through some quite high frequencies, although not that loud, PEQs to remove.
As a test I ran without any PEQs and the FR was still pretty good.
A testament to the acoustic design of the SH-50.
Then I only EQd a little looking at the whole FR plot, not the individual drivers.
The sound was pretty close to the more heavily EQd setup TBH. 90 - 95% as clean!
That really surprised me!
In outdoor mode I won't use my more sophisticated DSP unit.
Will be a Behringer DCX2496 and 3 PA amps.
Having done this test I'm confident it will sound pretty good.
Here's my inspiration 😃
The blue subs look like the Danley's DIY Labhorn design, that he gave to Prosoundweb 20+years back. Awesome subs !
Made a few myself, for the outdoor occasions 😀
Nowadays for outdoor fun, I put the Labhorns under mains more like this one....
Active Classix II for patio
Workshop speakers built about 20 years ago with surplus Peerless midranges from Madisound and Swans K1 silk domes. Parts bin first order crossover and scrap wood. About .4 cubic feet tuned to 55 Hz. They sound great!
