Shouldn't they all sound the same?

Indiscriminately increasing cap values for the servo and/or feedback blocking is indeed risky. There are several LF time constants in the amp, these two caps but also the power supply. If they are not carefully staggered you can get what many tube builders struggle with: 'motorboating'. It is a LF oscillation that let's you watch your woofers slowly move in and out while the output stage slowly gets cooked. 😉

I owe you an apology. When you said the above yesterday I am afraid I suspected sarcasm or a merely diplomatic 'change of mind'. Your subsequent posts show that I misjudged things.

As you have found, debate on here can be vigorous!
Very kind an greathearted of you.

Accepted, and yes I was serious and really surrendered my stance at that point.
My position was too simple and lacking real knowledge about electronics deemed to shatter. In this forum I should listen instead of posing. I should be gratefull with every bit of knowledge you guys are willing to share with me, that should be my basic position and not the other way around.

It turns out that he's been doing it for almost 10 years on this forum. For a while it was Mark Levinson and Threshold amp. 🙄
Doing what?

If you examine my first post in this thread you can see that I stated the following:
"Not hindered by any knowledge I almost ten years ago started a thread with the title:
'Why Class A? Wasting power is something of the past'

Well that wasn't a good start to make myself very popular around here because quite a few members and designers are conviced that this is still the way to go to have a good sounding amplifier and they're probably right."

That's not trolling if you already share your lack of understanding in this field and make yourself vulnarable for criticism.

How on God's sweet earth can knowledge be a hinderance?

I think that was an ironic joke expression.

In this forum I should listen instead of pos(t)ing.
Assuming the "t" I edited into the quote just above is what you meant --
No, posting is a fine way to go. It was a good discussion, and I doubt anyone here thinks the "front end" hardware isn't relevant, just that it's not inherently the most important.
