and i was thinking of the classic form that i've seen before which is configured like this
and in the last rendering without actual dimensions the fact that the channel after the last bend appears to reduce in size how is that not an acoustic low pass...?

The purpose of the rendering was to illustrate the mathematics of the parabola curvature.
In that illustration width of the channel slightly decreases as the diameter of the slot increases, the calculated dimensions result in a cross-sectional volume that slightly increases along its path. It was a concept. The prototype has a uniform width.
Construction of the Parabola dish version. The XPS foam layer is for stiffening the structure as well as sound isolation. 75 cm wide at the mouth. The result is good, not quite as crisp a projection zone as I hoped for, next will fill and make the rough faceted inner surface smooth and "reflective" as possible.

Size comparison between the conical and parabolic units.

The dish detaches and the tower makes for a nice omnidirectional filler unit.

Strictly a test as opposed to a performance. Camera recording location not ideal, too close and dominated by the sound source, but a first test nonetheless. Third-person camera and directional mics will help with communicating the experience. Really designed for live performance.

I liked it!
What a ton of beautiful work you've put into these units.
Am wondering if you have any experience recording with Middle-Side techniques -- seems like it might add a bit to recording this neat machine.
Cheers

Very cool and great job sticking with your idea! Good luck with the build, and let us know how it sounds. I still think you should get a a patent.
I think this may have some marketing potential.

Try a foam core tractrix with a TC9FD. Plans here.
https://www.diyaudio.com/community/...rynergy-a-full-range-tractrix-synergy.261427/You get 10dB boost so is quite loud and very clear.

That is new to me, researched a bit and it looks like a good way to try, thanks for steering me in that direction.
You're so welcome! It's been a favorite of mine since the 1970's. 🙂 Gives a surprisingly 'present' sense of the space.
"Tubatron" -- great name -- I love that thing! The recording of you going around a space with it is really compelling. Loved it!
Warm Regards
