these are the 4 main makes that have panels going all the way up to 1024 native.

can anyone tell me why qa 2500 is regarded as better than the proxima ovation+920, if this is just prejudgement and rumour, and how all these panels actually compare to someone who wants really colorful images or unblurred dvd viewing?

sharp is NOT better than 920WS + or 944+ they have better image quality and they are SXGA!!! i almost got one but i backed out at the last second

another thing..THERE IS NO BEST! it al depends on the individual user, my favorite is the Proxima 846 and i've have ALOT of panel XGA's and SXGA's alike, im trying to test al the proximas to see which proxima i liek most, I have liek 5 panels on the way...im thinking the powerView 820 will beat my 846...I'l have to see...

ummm any ways good luck findind a high res panel as we all know they things go for 500$ 🙂

Hello all,

I would not consider the sharp QA-2500 the best panel out there Both my +920 and 944 way outperform my sharp panel in terms of detail, contrast, and color(i have yet to find a real big difference between my +920 and 944). I have noticed a lot more detail in the dark and light scenes in the proxima panels whereas the sharp looked too washed out or too dark for my tastes. I also noticed a lot more motion bluring with the Sharp panel.
The SXGA is nothing to get excited over however because it is compressed and makes the images look horrible and it adds to motion blurring even when the scenes are not fast.
The one thing that i found better about the QA-2500 was the video processing, the s-video and RCA in were much better quallity than what i was getting from the proxima panels. The S-video on the QA-2500 looked sharp and stable but on the proxima the image was blured and shaky it looked like an old vhs tape.
One thing that i did find quite interesting was when i opened up the proxima it is using a sharp brand lcd yet it looked a lot better than the actual sharp QA-2500. Either it was a differnt lcd model or it had something to do with the controllers on the +920.
Overall they are all great panels if you are going to be using a computer only and want better detail i would go with a +920 or 944 and if you plan to only use a DVD paler or something other than a computer and you dont care mush about the washed out scenes i would look into the QA-2500.

Hope this info helps you guys out 🙂

BTW Im thinking of selling my +920 soon it has all the necessary cables and power supply so if you are intested, send me an offer.

so polaroid and proxima 9xx are some of the most quality panels. any experience of nview and infocucus proview? and does a converted samsung surpass all of these?

arrgh...(VvvV:smash: ) no, heres the list..
polaroid...Nview...Sharp..telex..LSK...etc you get idea yet?
EVERY company has a great and crappy panel again there IS no best...it just depends on the user.

just try to get a decent panel 🙂

a converted LCD monitor will most likely surpass all..but thats not always the case.

I've owned a Sharp (qa1650) and a Proxima 944. The Sharp panel was really good with video from non-VGA source, but the colors were washed. Animation wasn't too great on the Sharp either.

The Proxima panel is really nice. The colors rival my parents' old 40inch projection TV, but when video is from anything other than VGA, it gets a little jerky. It's not noticable to most people, but I can see it. Also, the panel is affected by Macrovision, where the Sharp panel wasn't.

All in all, every panel has it's goods and bads.

Sharp's colors are fine!

Haven't had a proxima, but I have had 2 sharps qa 1200, and 1500
with thier 1.7 mil colors i have to say they are stunning
no blur, nothing wrong whatsoever, loud, again this isn't a factor to me, but my ask is much quieter, I still want to say, sharp qa seems to be engineered sturdier, and better than all the other panels I've seen, now the qa-2500 seems overpriced(300 US for this!?)but I must say, I've bought 2 lcd displays, and have wasted 100, would much rather have bought a sharp, proxima, or any decent panel.
but finally, for the beginner, I must recommend the qa 1200-qa1500, using rca input, it's damn nice, if you're an advanced DIY you shouldn't be reading this(I HATE L shaped ribbon cables, and have to say DONT get the HPL1510 sucks)
anyways, sharp is very good product, if in good working condition:devilr:

Sam opinion as gregory

Hi gregory,
that's almost my opinion to.
The ASK Panels are the quiet panels i ever had,
the Sharps are wellnow, a little bit noisy.
The Nviews are rare (except the spectra) and very stable !
Almost all Infocus are crappy.. slow, low colors and so on...
But the proxima ovations are good and loud thats bad too...
If i say you one thing.
IF you can get a ASK Panel (Impact 21,24,WSX) then GET IT.
That*s the best choice in my opinion.
Greetings
Bernhard

I agree about the Ask panels. I have owned three and they've all been VERY quiet (two 24s and a 400). I use them in a small room, so noise is very noticeable to me. I have had two proxima panels and they are so noisy they were almost unuseable for me.

D.I.Y. Stripped Monitor Vs Projection Panel?

is the image better in color and brightness terms on new tft that is converted to a projection screen, or on old tft that was designed especially for projection, like the proxima ovation.?
