Separating moderation posts from normal posts for moderators

Clicking either the diyAudio logo or the home button gives the same result for me - different to yours. I'm using Firefox if that makes any difference.

Jan, go to user cp, choose edit options. In the private messaging section, tick the 3rd box down the list to enable notifications. This also includes the message text with the notification.

Hi Richie,
That's how I get notifications. It seems to work, and I like the information on the text of the message.

Having the option to list your real email address could be convenient. If something is getting involved I'll often switch to my normal email. I do get notifications of email here as I mentioned. Good idea Jan.

Hey Jan, I get emails of all PMs, but it's been that way so long I can't remember how it's done. Will look.
EDIT: FOund it, it's simple.
  • Go to USER CP
  • Click EDIT OPTIONS
  • Look in the middle of that page. PM settings are there.

survival ....

I never thought to actually block or ignore another member.

The "mind filter" is just as effective , there could be something an offensive
member could actually contribute.
Usually , someone who posts consecutive B$ will just "bury themselves"
anyways.

If one needs to block on a sheltered virtual forum , how would they deal
with the real world (which is filled with ar$$'es) ?
Also , some (offending) members can be reconciled .... and may become your best
friends after squaring away any rough edges 🙂 .

With all due respect Cal, I think it's a simple thing to implement (Jason may hate me for saying this...).

case 1: you post as a regular member, you are on my ignore list (hypothetical), I don't see your post.

case 2: you post as a mod., you are on my ignore list (hypothetical), the system overrides that and I am forced to read your post ;-)

Jan

Can't this be accomplished quickly and easily by brute force- moderators get to register twice: jan.didden and jan.didden_mod, Cal_Weldon and Cal_Weldon_mod.

Jason just needs to block anyone else from choosing a username with "_mod" at the end.

We already have a Moderation Team account. Thing is, if you have only one computer, you have to log out of your regular account, log in to the MT account then back again. That's maybe why you only see it every so often. It's easier just to use your regular account and don the :cop: symbol.

Back to me. That took almost 2 minutes.

So that's your opinion as a well respected user, not a mod since there's no :cop:. 🙂

Two minutes? That's not too bad of a burden at all. I've spent more time trying to attach picture or get the print view/enhanced print to work.

I mean, how much time do you spend reading the site and how much of that is spent posting as a mod? If mod/user is tiny, then 2 minutes is no big deal. If mod/user is large then just log in as a mod and get it all done together.

IMO: If you really are so tender as to have to block a mod in normal user mode, while still seeing his mod posts - this place isn't for you. Or you could simply be an adult and accept it as part of the price for a free, well run and interesting forum.

I'm not sure I understand you, but I'm sorry if I was out of line. I think i have probably drifted off course from the original topic because i wasnt thinking about blocking when i posted that.

Anyway I'm just trying to participate in a thread whose goal is to make this excellent forum even better. I contribute where i can and try to be positive. As for being free, this place is worth more than that. That's why I'm a donor. I can't think of another forum that I would gladly pay to use.

Who can remember those old forums, I think they were called message boards? They were vicious, no room for softies.🙂
