.....
In my opinion this could be a new challenge for the new J-Fets?

OPT is crucial , even if not in same amount as in tube amps .

You're so correct on the transformer, Choky. I use inductors in my amp's output and notice a great deal of difference between coils.
Interesting design. What does that little circuit below R4 do?

are we using same weed these days ?

bias , what else - just look at BOZ schmtc

Smartypants!
I thought the jfet was perhaps biased through the transformer. Although I realize that the circuit in question might be used to bias, I would not assume anything.
The output appears on the transformer. I'd like to build this one someday as well.
How about the ZCA on diyaudioprojects? Looks like that could use one of these jfets as well.

tip - you can build Suzan Parker's Zeus with these ....
that way you have finished xformer recipe

Oh, I love you alright

A friend of mine started this project years ago too. He has ordered a pair of transformers. I will ask him, what has happend to them.
What was the intention of Jean Hiraga using an OPT? The Mosfet can drive low impedances.

Of course, you know I luv ya man...
Just got over the flu with a fever and my brain isn't all there--confused mosfet with jfet symbol. Sure, that schematic makes all kinds of sense when one get's their symbols correct.
2nd thought being: would we need the bias circuit with a power jfet? The choke load should bias up the transistor.

Hmm... that's an interesting approach.

re-read BOZ or Zen articles ; load (usually) can't bias active element
Nemesis Amp
I was talking this morning with my friend about his own Nemesis project.
He stopped it! It was not possible for him to stopp oscillations in the mhz area.
He said it is difficult to get the right OTP. Looking at the prices for tube OTP, I I will search for other projects🙂
Q Mr. Pass: could you give us some information about the sweet spot of the new power j-fets? Supply voltage and bias current?
Happy sunday
and kind reagards

all he need is right gate stopper with or without ferrite bead ditto on gate pin , along with adequate cap/resistor combo across primary ;

Thank you Zen Mod.
Looking at the schematics, in ver.2 and ver.3 they added 100R gate stopper.
will visit him on wednesday, he still got the transformers🙂

don't tell him anything , just grab those xformers ......

Well, I thought the power Jfet was biased by the load, not the gate. I didn't realize that the new Semisouth Jfets were normally turned off. My ignorance.
...... My ignorance.
naah ...... you'll never know how dumb I know to be sometimes ......

besides that - I'm not good with wood , comparing to you ....

Q Mr. Pass: Found what I was looking for inthe J2 manual
